***********************************

Peter ran outside, clenching his book bag. The sky was already dark and bright stars splattered the black canvas. Peter ran in the warm breeze, breathing heavily. He finally reached his destination at around 11:15.

The teen slowed down, opening the gate to the graveyard. He took a deep breath, entering. It had already been a couple of weeks since his aunt died, and he wasn't entirely over it.

He found her grave, taking a few steps towards it.

"Hey, May."

The wind blew his brown, frizzy hair as he knelt down beside the grave.

"It's been a while, hasn't it?"

He slung his bag off of his shoulder.

"I miss you."

He shuffled through his bag and past his suit to reach a smaller plastic bag.

"Thank you for, um, everything."

He sniffled, taking out the crinkled bag.

"Thank you for, um,"

He coughed, taking something colorful out of the bag.

"For supporting me."

Flowers fell out of his hands and the bag, and he scrambled to pick them back up.

"You were-"

He laughed sadly.

"You were so scared when you found out-"

He sniffed.

"Found out I'm Spiderman."

He placed the flowers on her grave.

"You were terrified, but you supported me."

A tear poured down his cheek, and he wiped it away.

"You supported my decision to move in with, um, with Mr. Stark."

More tears.

"To let him adopt me."

He didn't seem to even notice any more tears.

"I love you for that."

He coughed, shutting his eyes.

"I mean- not just for that."

The teen took a deep, shaky breath, putting his bag back on.

"You were amazing."

Suddenly, he broke down into sobs, covering his face with his hands. He hiccuped desperately, feeling weak and alone. He felt as if the world was closing in on him and he couldn't breathe. He needed someone, anyone.

"Peter?"

The voice sounded distant.

"Peter, come on."

He flinched at the feeling of a hand on his shoulder. The teen panicked, crawling away. "No, get away!" He shouted, his eyes shut with tears freely cascading from them.

"Hey, it's just me, calm down." Tony's voice said, softer than usual.

"Oh-" Peter quickly wiped away his tears, sniffling quietly. "Sorry."

"Stop apologizing and get up." Tony told him. The teen nodded, weakly standing up. He took deep breaths, trying to steady his breathing. He counted in what he thought was his head.

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,"

"Peter, why are you counting?" Steve asked. Peter didn't even realize he was there.

"Um-" he cleared his throat. "I-it helps me calm down."

Tony sighed. "Let's get you home, we'll talk about this later."

They piled into Tony's car, and Peter sat in the back. The teen stared out the window and didn't speak the whole ride home. He took in and out deep shaky breaths, as he counted in his head.

He got up to "461" when they arrived home. Peter hesitantly got out of the car, walking inside. He saw the clock immediately. He didn't realize how long he had been out. Tony sat on the couch, gesturing for Steve and Peter to sit. They both did, and Tony began to speak quietly.

"Pete, you can't keep doing this. You're torturing yourself by not allowing yourself to... just get over it. I know you miss her, but everyone loses someone. I hate seeing you like this."

From these words, Peter felt guilty. He put his head down, not responding.

"He's right, kid." Steve chimed in. "You shouldn't dwell over her, that's not what she would've wanted. She would want you to stay strong."

Peter nodded, swallowing back tears.

"I just- I really miss her." Peter mumbled, almost inaudibly.

"I know," Tony patted his back gently. "Come on, get to bed."

Peter got up from his seat, allowing Steve and Tony to go upstairs with him. They led him into his own bedroom. The teen got under the covers on his bed, stripping off his shoes, socks, shirt, and pants. Tony put on music at a low volume, turning off the lights.

"Goodnight, son, I love you so much." Tony whispered as he was knelt down beside Peter's bed. He had been so worried for him recently, it just felt amazing to get those few words out. He pecked the teen's forehead. Peter sniffled, quietly responding, "Goodnight, dad, love you too."

Tony stood up, grabbing Steve's hand and walking out.
