The cafeteria was in a uproar as people told others what had happened in the hallway and how the new girl had been been protected by Silas, but most of all, how he had threatened anyone who touched her. Silas and Lilly did their best to ignore the looks they were getting and when the two of them got their lunches they went to sit down at his usual table. Luke chuckled to himself as he saw Lilly wearing Silas' jacket, and smiled at them both.
"Well if it isn't the happy couple!" He said cheerfully. "I wish I had some white rice to throw at you guys like they do at weddings. But they only serve this kind..." He held up his tray, showing them the brown colored rice. "Oh well it's close enough I guess." Luke reasoned with himself. He grabbed some rice from his tray and tossed it at them cheering dramatically. "Yay for love!"
Silas laughed and sat down next to him after pulling Lilly's seat out for her, and letting her sit first. "You're so weird sometimes man." He said taking his friend's humor in stride.. Luke raised an eyebrow. "I'm the weird one? Says Mr. Macho going into a crowd of kids and then threatening all of them guy?" He asked waving his fork around as he gestured at him. Silas smiled a bit. "Yeah. You're still weirder." He replied with a warm smile.
Luke leaned back with a sigh. "Fine, you win this time. But you're still a sap. I mean really, you could've just told her you liked her. You didn't have to roast all the people in the school to prove it to her you know.." He said with exasperation. Silas opened his mouth to reply, then remembered Lilly was there and decided not to say what he was going to. "It wasn't...like that man." He tried. "He was just helping me." Lilly said in his defense. Silas nodded and looked at her thankfully.
"Lay off him about it." She added for good measure. Luke motioned to her with a hand smoothly. "As you command milady." He said and bowed in his seat. Lilly flushed from embarrassment and lowered her eyes. "Don't do that you're creeping her out." Silas grumbled. Luke rolled his eyes. "Sure I'm the problem. Please blame little old me." He said with a pitiful look. "I will. Thanks for being so understanding buddy." Silas said picking up his fork and stabbing a mysterious fruit on his tray. Maybe a melon of some type? He wondered to himself.
Luke stared at him in astonishment. "Oh my gosh. You're abandoning me? You're one and only true love?" He cried grabbing his hair. Silas nodded and chewed the fruit calmly.. Yep definitely a melon. "Yeah I'm no longer in love with you. Real shame huh?" He replied and stuck another piece of the mysterious fruit onto his fork. Luke grabbed the table like he would flip it and lifted it just an inch before giving up. "You can't do this to me man! W...we were in love! I have rights!" He yelled raising his hand towards the ceiling like he was trying to touch the stars.
"Yeah like the right to remain silent. Shut up Evens!" Called a guy in a green and white varsity football jacket. Luke whirled around and pointed at him. "Oh yeah? Well up yours man! I just had my heart broken by this gorgeous hunk of man sitting here!" The guy flipped him off and Luke sat down grumpily. He grabbed his fork muttering to himself. "I'll show you tough guy. Think you're cool just cause you can throw a ball? I'll rip your finger off and shove it up your a-"
"Luke! Calm down man. You're kind of freaking me out." Silas laughed. Luke blinked at him. "You're the devil." He said flatly and started eating again. I'm actually an fallen angel.. So in a way you're not too far off buddy. Silas thought. He looked at Lilly and laughed in surprise seeing her tray almost completely empty. "You hungry Lil?" He asked teasingly. She nodded and swallowed the last bite of her burger. "Yeah I missed breakfast this morning.." She said sheepishly. Silas moved his burger and held it out to her.
"Here I'm not that hungry you can have mine too." He said with a grin. Lilly took it slowly like it might fall apart in her hands and looked at him gratefully. She then shoved it into her mouth as she took a huge bite. "Thank you." She said, her voice muffled from her mouth being completely full. Silas kissed her cheek and glanced awkwardly at Luke who smiled a bit. "You two are adorable. You should like get matching outfits and say Romeo and Juliet lines and stuff to each other." He said twirling a fork in his hand. Silas and Lilly burst out laughing..
