"I didn't know Silas had a cat." Lilly said, her voice quivering slightly. Ashlynn shrugged and stared at the cat suspiciously."Well you don't know a lot about him. I didn't know he owned one either, must've found it somewhere." She replied. "I guess so." Lilly said with a puzzled frown on her face. "Wait I think it's crying! I didn't even know cats could cry... Do you think maybe.. It understands what's happening?" She asked sadly. The small cat padded down the steps and butted its head against her leg.
"I don't think so.. I mean it's just a cat. They aren't that intelligent of creatures." Ashlynn said dismissing the idea. The cat looked at her its eyes full of sadness. Ashlynn felt its gaze tug at her heartstrings, forcing her to look away. "I..think it does know what's happened." She said softly correcting herself. The cat rubbed against Lilly's leg and then meowed at them urgently. Lilly blinked as it walked around the wall into the dusty living room and looked over at Ashlynn.
"She wants us to follow her." Lilly said motioning to where the cat had gone. Ashlynn nodded in agreement. "I guess there's no harm in doing so." She replied curtly. The two girls walked into the living room where the cat had headed. The cat's footprints marked in a trial along the dust that covered the floor. The trail led them to a room not visible from the front door's point of view. The cat meowed and pawed at a closed door it couldn't open. Lilly opened the door slowly, peeking her head inside before opening it fully open.
"It's a closet of some sort." She said looking back at Ashlynn. The other girl stared at the many things inside that lined the shelves within and heard the cat meow again at them again. Ashlynn looked down at it. "What?" She asked frowning at it. The black cat pawed at her leg and meowed with more urgently. Ashlynn's eyes widened as she realized this cat was much more intelligent than she had given it credit for. She picked it up in her hands and murmured to herself. "This is no ordinary cat.."Ashlynn moved closer to Lilly and sighed. "Okay little guy, show me what is it?" She said to it showing it high shelves. The cat bit her hand making her almost drop it. "Youch! By the Gods what was that for?" She griped at the small feline. It looked up at her smugly and meowed at her. "Uh she's a girl Ashlynn. I think you made her mad." Lilly suggested. Ashlynn rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath. The cat got ready to bite her again and she lifted it up quickly as she could "Fine I'm sorry! Just show us why you took us over here."
The black cat meowed and leapt out of her grip onto the highest shelf. It meowed again and nudged a small box with its head. Ashlynn reached up and grabbed the box. She brought it down and knelt to set it down on the ground. Lilly knelt beside her, holding the cat in her arms. "This is a pretty smart cat." Lilly said happily and began to pet it between the ears. Ashlynn glanced at the cat seeing its sad worried eyes staring into her own.
"Yeah it sure is.." Ashlynn murmured and looked back down to the box it had given her. Nothing seemed to be special about it. It was made of wood and seemed to only have a basic clasp lock. She opened it and her eyes widened. "No way.." She whispered. In the box was basic bandages medicines and other ointments, but it was the glass vial of pure white fluid that caught her eye. Ashlynn pulled it out and opened the lid smelling the liquid.
The scent of fresh fruit and honey filled her nose, sending unbelievable sensations through her body.. She closed the lid and shivered staring at it in shock. "He stole.. Liquid lucem..Liquid Light.." Murmured to herself in disbelief at what he had done. "But..how did he.." Lilly looked at the bottle curiously. "What's that?" She asked moving a bit closer to try and see what it was that the other girl was holding. Ashlynn eyed her nervously and tried to think of a reply. "It's uhh.. medicine. It'll really help Silas." She answered stiffly, Lilly smiled.
"Then let's go give it to him!" She exclaimed excitedly, starting to get back up. The black cat meowed and leapt out of her grip. "Hey! W..where are you going?" Lilly yelped. The cat landed on Ashlynn's arm and snatched the vial in its mouth. "What the-" Ashlynn gasped in surprise as the cat jumped down and rushed to the stairs faster than any normal cat should have been able to. The girls chased after the small black animal. "Give that back you little furball! Silas needs it!" Ashlynn yelled from behind, but the cat ignored her completely. It leapt up the steps one by one and beat them to the door slipping inside with ease.
Ashlynn ran up the stairs with Lilly at her heels and grabbed the doorknob ready to barge in. "What's wrong that cat?" Lilly asked out of breath reaching the top of the stairs a moment after her. Ashlynn didn't reply and looked through the partially open door. The cat had gotten on the bed and was trying to remove the lid by itself. It pulled on the lid with its teeth tugging with all its might, while pushing with its hind paws against the bottom of the vial. "What are you doing cat?" Ashlynn whispered to herself.
