"Madlynn, hurry! Mother's going to be furrious!" My older sister rushed into my room, her updo was messy, and a few loose strands of hair curled and framed her face. She quickly looked me over before grabbing my hand and pulling me out of the house.
Mother was waiting in the coach, and we jumped inside, out of breath.
"You're late." Mother scolded, her face in the permanent scowl she had worn for the past few years now.
"Sorry mother." Elizabeth and I said in unison as she signaled the driver to start moving. I sighed, biting my tongue before giving up.
"I don't want to go, Mother." I said softly, closing my eyes to prepare myself for her to explode. My sister lightly kicked my leg, but I ignored her.
"Stop the horses." Mother signaled the driver to stop the coach, and opened the door. "Go."
