"Mother had me engaged." I sighed at the one detailed memory I could remember. Savanah made up an excuse to leave and pulled a confused Zenan away from us.

"Who." Blake said calmly, but I could see the anger in his eyes.

"Gregory Houdin." I said slowly. Gregory was closer to my brothers age, and we had all grown up together.

"What!" He exploded, turning away from me and began pacing back and forth. I flinched back and closed my eyes, waiting for the rest of his outburst. I could hear Savannah and Zenan arguing outside, probably wanting to come back in and find out what was happening.

"I forbid it." Blake said slowly after a while.

"It's irrelevant." I sighed. "They probably think I ran away like you did."

"How could mother do such a thing." He muttered, anger evident in his voice. I could tell he was trying not to explode. Then he noticed the ring still in my finger, showing my engagement.

"Take it off." He said in a low growl. I frowned, putting my hands behind my back. My brother fumed, grabbing my arm tightly and yanking it to him. I made a startled yelp, and I saw Zenan run in and push my brother off of me.

"What the heck!" Blake yelped, startled, letting go of my arm, all anger gone.

"I could say the same!" Zenan said, letting go of my brother but keeping himself between us. "You have no right to touch a lady like that."

"Like you had the right to come sauntering in like that?" Blake's anger was back, now directed at Zenan instead of mother.

"Be quiet, both of you!" I yelled, catching both boys' attention.

"As for the engagement, it doesn't matter because we have absolutely no way to get back home. And anyways, you have no say in it because you weren't there." For effect, I pulled the ring off, shoving it into my brothers hands, then turned to Zenan. "And as for you? I can take care of myself. I didn't need you barging in and protecting me. I had it under control."

I gave a look to Zenan that would have made the most battle hardened knights proud, then began walking out of the hut. "I need some air."

I rushed out of the hut, gripping Zenan's sword in my hand, and pulling it out of the sheath. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I had to get away for a while.

Once Savanah's hut was out of sight, I stopped. A humongous tree stood in front of me. Since I didn't have my bow, I began swinging at the tree. The forest began getting darker as time passed, so I decided I had enough of practice and began heading back.

All of a sudden I got the feeling I was being watched. No, that wasn't what it felt like. It felt like I was being hunted.

Then I saw it. A figure moved in the shadows. A tall cloaked figure was watching me; it's eyes glowing silver. I drew my sword as it attacked. It slashed at my sword arm, but I spun, doging it. It slashed again, hitting my left arm, and easily tore through the clothes and my shoulder and I yelled out in pain.

The wound immediately began burning, unlike anything I had ever felt before.  I slashed at the figure, feeling the blade catch on something near its face. It screeched in pain and ran.

I nearly collapsed in pain, but I began sprinting into the clearing where Savanah lived. I could see Blake and Zenan looking around in panic, probably from my tell in pain. I stumbled, dropping the sword, and grasping my arm in pain before finally collapsing on the ground. I could feel myself drenched in sweat, and I couldn't catch my breath.

"Madlynn?" Blake called, and I could see the boys rushing over to me. "What happened?"

"Silver eyes." I said between shaky breaths. They exchanged worried looks before Zenan began examining my wound. The moment he touched my blood, he hissed, pulling his hand away and wiping it off on his trousers.

"The sword was dipped in poison." He explained, examining a lot more carefuly. "If it was Savanah or I, it would have killed us instantly."

"What will it do to her then?" Blake asked. The pain was increasing causing me to groan in pain, and grabbed his hand, squeezing it.

"I don't know." He said worriedly. "We need to get her inside for Savanah to help."

"Go get her." Blake said urgently. He then picked me up as gently as he could, and brought me inside. Zenan and Savanah came back quickly and Savanah went to work on my wound.

"If the Nightling did this to you, I don't want to know what he looks like." Blake said half heartedly, trying to lighten the mood.

"Got his face." I tried to smile through the pain but I'm sure my smile was more of a grimace. I squeezed my brother's hand, and he squeezed it back. Zenan just observed from the far end of the room, looking like he was going to be sick.

"This is going to hurt." Savanah warned as she pulled out a cobalt blue vial, that seemed to be radiating. She slowly poured the thick liquid on my arm, and my arm suddenly felt like it was on fire. I closed my eyes but soon, it started to numb, and the pain in my arm lessened.

Savanah left the room again, and Zenan followed. She came back momentarally holding a second vial, but this one bright purple.

"I'm afraid what I have to do next, will be done better if you are unconscious." Savanah explained. "This vial will put you to sleep quickly and you won't wake up again until this time tomorrow evening. That should give me enough time to evaluate and treat your wound to the best of my ability."

"I have to leave at dawn." Blake said sadly.

"Why so soon? You just got here." I complained.

"I'll come back soon." He squeezed my hand and kissed my forehead. "You just have to get better for me, alright?"

"You need to drink this." Savanah handed me the vial. It was warm, nearly humming with energy. "Just a sip, and it will take affect almost immediately."

I took a small sip, the taste bitter in my mouth. I handed Savanah the vial back before resting my head on my brother's shoulder. I could feel my eyes getting heavy as I drifted into sleep.
