"What are we supposed to do?" I asked.

JH took a deep breath, and hesitated a bit to reply. "I think you should stay here. I'm gonna go figure out what's going on, okay?"

"Okay."

"Don't move, or touch a single thing, got it? I'll be back as soon as I can."

"Okay, I won't." I said, and I heard the door open and close quickly as JH left. His footsteps echoed down the hall, and I waited for him to be gone before making my move. My hand plunged into my pocket once more to find the flash drive, and felt a wave of relief wash through me once I felt its smooth, cold, and metallic surface under my fingertips.

I didn't have enough time to turn on the laptop and download whatever was on here before he got back, or at least, I assumed so. Even if I did have enough time, was I really that willing to take the chance?

Suddenly, an idea came to mind, and I quickly felt around the desk for his laptop. I was careful not to knock over either of the glasses of water, and soon found the surface of the laptop. I unplugged the charger from the back, since it was useless at this point. How would it be able to charge if the power was out?

I was about to pick it up, but as my fingers curled around the cool edges, I stopped myself. If JH came back before I could return it, I would be in big trouble. I was the last person in the room, I would be the main suspect. Then they would search my room and find the laptop, and there would be nothing I could do about it.

I let go of it, and carefully stepped back. I didn't want to risk it. I needed to get out of here, and fast. Well actually, as fast as I could go without hurting myself. It was pitch black, there was no way for me to see where I was going.

As it turns out, "as fast as I could go" was pretty slow. I took careful and slow footsteps around the room, and reached my arms out to see if I could feel anything around the room. I just needed to get to the door, and manage to open it. This wasn't as simple as it had seemed no less than two seconds ago.

Once I reached the wall, I slid my hands across it slowly, and walked carefully alongside it. I eventually located the door frame, and found the door handle a few seconds later. I grasped the handle, and cringed as I turned it and pulled the door open. The creaking sound was extremely loud compared to the eerily silent hallway, it almost felt like the equivalent of someone's phone accidentally going off in school, when the entire class was silent.

I took a deep breath and stepped out into the hallway, slowly closing the door behind me. I shuddered in the darkness, not ever being this freaked out before since I arrived at this place. It was eerily silent; it was almost as if no one else was here.

I took another deep breath to calm myself, but it wasn't working. My heart was still practically beating out of my chest, and I was 99% sure you could hear it from a mile away.

Okay, calm down, Micha... You just need to figure out where to go. No big deal, I assured myself.

I reached my arms out on either side of me, and took steps towards the right until I hit a hard surface. I reached my other arm to touch the wall on the opposite side of me, and kept my hands sliding across it as I made my way through the hallway. The loud noise coming from my boots hitting the floor echoed all through the halls, announcing my presence to anyone that was nearby.

I'm not gonna lie; I was terrified. Who knows what could happen now? But there was nothing else I could do but keep going.

I just carefully made my way down the hall, trying my best to ignore the constant fear running through me. But out of nowhere, I heard a fast, rhythmic, pounding sound against the wooden floors. It approached closer by the second, and I froze. It sounded as if someone was running... But who?
