"And what will you be auditioning with?" Kevin's voice filled the auditorium as Mateo sat next to Veronica as he fiddled with a charm on Veronica's bag. "Uh, an original song that I wrote called I'll Try" the ginger breathed out as the football team behind us yelled, "Try harder! Maybe try not sucking so much." Mateo rolled his eyes and sighed. How usual of the jocks. Taking pity on the shaking ginger who looked like he was gonna throw up any second, he stood up.
"Mantle, shut up. I don't care if you're captain or not, shut the hell up or we'll be having a talk, the same one Clayton had" He yelled at the team as they quieted down letting him sit back down. It became official that Reggie Mantle was now team captain and truth be told he could care less. The football team avoided him like a plague after the incident with Chuck and he only interacted with them for football. He was going to switch over to something during winter anyway, maybe wrestling if they had it.
"Take your time, Archie. Though we do have people waiting." Kevin tried to reassure him as the ginger shook even more as everyone looked on. Mateo looked on as Archie choked up and gripped the mic.
"Oh, my God, what's happening?" Veronica asked in concern. "He's choking" Josie looked on, in surprise as she rested her head on her fist while smirking.
"Archie? Clock's ticking" Kevin reminded him as Archie looked up, glanced at the crowd and muttered into the mic, "Excuse me. Sorry, I gotta go." He ran out well more like waddled out leaving the next act to go up. Mateo noticed the football team laughing to themselves before glancing at the time. 10 more minutes and then he could sprint away. Maybe run into a redhead girl.

"There's gotta be a reason my mom and dad don't want me to see Polly." Betty sighed as her and Jughead discussed something about her sister at lunch as Mateo sat down. Obviously a private conversation, he left them alone. Besides where the hell was Veronica?
"What are you guys talking about? Anything I can help with?" Archie sat down avoiding his gaze as Valerie sat down next to him. So they were becoming a thing now?
"What we're attempting is a stealth operation, Archie. If we go in there with the entire Scooby Gang, forget it, we're compromised" Jughead sighed before returning to his brooding as Mateo played on his phone before his attention turning to a certain red head that walked past him. An unreadable mask sat on her face as she glanced at him before turning her attention to Ginger and Tina. A small smile spread onto his face before turning his attention to the brooders. She was still paying attention to him, so that was a good sign, he hoped.
"Well, don't you have to practice for the Variety Show anyways?" Betty asked tearing her attention from her brooding with Jughead to Archie. "Uh, no, I don't." He sighed before a certain sister of his appeared, "Except that yes, you do. Thanks to a certain Veronica-ex-machina. Excuse me" she sat in between the Valerie and Archie as she sipped her drink.
