At first sight

Chapter 10

"One day one bouquet, so how many have you received so far? Don't you think that is kind of stingy? Such cheap flowers. He should get you some roses instead, one hundred of them. Do you know who is it from? Could it be from that old patient said that you are his favourite nurse? Or was it that guy from the army who has hots for you?" 

"I am not a fan of roses. No matter who is it from, at least they got the right type of flowers Angie." Evangeline replied while looking at the fifth bouquet of baby breathe she received. She took out the card and there is it, the beautifully written word - Evangeline. She turned the card over and saw the rest of the message - If you are available, meet me at The Odyssey at eight tonight. 

"The Odyssey... where's that?" Evangeline mumbled as she took of her scrubs. 

"DUDE! THAT'S A 5 STARS RESTAURANT! You will need to book at least a year in advance. So lucky!!!" Angie pouted at Evangeline, which she return her with a hesitant smile.

A sugar daddy? Evangeline thought and felt a shiver of disgust travels down her spine, then her eyes glistened. Perhaps, it's playtime for her.

It was seven fifty-five pm, Evangeline reached the venue. People on the streets turned and admire her beauty as she got out of the cab in a beautiful cream colour dress that compliments her slightly tanned skin perfectly. She looked very simple and natural without any accessories, and she looked like she almost did not have any makeup on.  She walked into the restaurant in her maroon heels and a playful smile. 

"Hello, a reservation under Evangeline." She hopes she got it right. 

The man and the counter blushed and quickly replied, "here let me bring you there." 

He led her up to the second level of the restaurant then held the open door, "Miss, your date has arrived."

Evangeline took a deep breath and analyzed the area, memorising the exit points and hiding spots in merely 5 seconds. The waiter closed the door as she walked in and pulled the seat for her. She sat down in her most graceful manner, thank the staff and looked up at the man in front of her. Black hair... so much hope for a sugar daddy. She gave herself a mental slapped, but she managed to  keep that playful smile on. Young ones are more fun to play with.

The man then closed the menu that was covering his face.

"Smile bro smile. " The voice in the intercom said as he heard the waiter pulled the seat for his future sister-in-law.

Evangeline stiffened for a moment upon seeing his flawless face,  she then burst into a fit of laughter.

Carl dropped his stiffened smile and raised his left eyebrow. The laughter carried on for the next 3 minutes,  a gentle smile appeared on Carl's face as he admired the beautiful lady in front of him.

Meanwhile,  Jerry was finding this laughter rather familiar.  He immediately pushed the thought aside and trying to grab hold of the situation.  What happened man,  the girl should be smitten by the smile and be pleasantly surprised.  What happened?  Perhaps despite his brother's good look,  his smile was not as charming as Jerry?  Whatever it is,  Jerry calms himself down with the fact that as long as his future sister-in-law is laughing and happy,  he should be safe. 

Evangeline finally stopped laughing and turned herself to Carl.

"Well,  it's you!" She let out her breath, before continuing "I have to say, your smile was very natural." 

She watched as Carl's head tilted before he realised she was being sarcastic. Charming. 

"So, you are the ones that got me the baby breaths?"

Carl replied with a simple Mmm, and signal the waiter to bring in the menu. 

To be honest, Evangeline does not know how she should react in this situation. Unlike the previous guys, this man seems different. He is really serious. She watched his handsome face that was usually covered with a mask, interesting. Her attention immediate change as she received the menu, she flipped through the pages and quickly decided on a few dishes.

"Steak medium rare, kings crab,  Hongkong steam fish, steamed broccoli, Aglio Olio, cream udon and a strawberry shortcake. Please serve the dessert later, thank you." 

On the other side, Jerry was shocked. Wait what, this girl, is she a gold digger? He doubted on his brother's judgement will be so horrible. Jerry shook his hand. Oh my god, was she like an extremely big eater. That's actually possible. For someone that cares a lot on one's appearance, his jaw dropped as he imagines her to be 150kg, he immediately ended the call due to shock. 

Carl kept his eyes on Evangeline in amusement as they eat.

"You know, even though you are pretty handsome, that does not mean that you cannot be a stalker or someone dangerous." 

"I like you," Carl said, placing his hands on the table nervously. "Do you want to be in a relationship?"
