Carl felt the vibration in his pocket, he knew it's Jerry. Contemplating between turning his phone off or answering, he chose to answer after some careful consideration - firstly if he does= less pestering, and secondly Jerry might just be a little helpful.
Carl discreetly answer the call by pretending to touch his left ear.
"So why are you here in the hospital today? " Evangeline asked curiously as they somehow walked aimlessly in the hospital, both hiding their nervousness.
Jerry decided to be smart and kept his mouth shut this time , ahh.. what would his brother answer. Jerry was so anxious that he crumpled the empty can of coke he finished a second ago. With Carl's cold and aloof personality, Jerry was sure that sure Carl will surely answer her with probably a word - 'work' , 'check up' or something short and lame.
"To see you." Carl gazed intensely into Evangeline eyes, she was stunned for words.
Despite being shocked at his brother's direct approach, Jerry could imagine how awkward the scenario will be. He imagined Carl saying these words in his straight face, staring probably intensely into the girl's eyes (AND THAT'S DEFINITELY A SPOT ON)
One second, two seconds, three seconds. Jerry couldn't stand the silence and say, "bro, you better do some damage control, or she will just finds you creepy. A sneaky smile would be good."
Just when Evangeline decides to run, Carl smiled sneakily, seeing the hint of amusement in his eyes and she finally lets out her breathe. Carl was indeed amused.
Evangeline caught a glimpse of Logan back, out of instinct, she pulled Carl out of the hospital zone. She gripped on his arm and dragged him out.
She made sure they are Logan-free before she released her grip.
"Damn it, why did I dragged him out, I could have just ran off myself" Evangeline muttered to herself, while Carl watched her with amused eyes.
On the other hand, Jerry was dying from curiosity, he wanted to question the situation but he knew he would not get an answer from it. He had no choicr but to remain silence.
Evangeline met Carl's amused eyes and brushed it off with a "someone I dislike," which was kind of true in a way
They two eventually gone their own seperate ways that evening.
