500k, that's was enough to pay Rose's surgery and all the medical bills that she owed. Evangeline thought to herself, perhaps for Rose's sake, she should perform that mission. The last time she had done assassination or obtaining information was years ago during her grey period. It was Rose who believed her and helped her to become who she is today. The once self-destructive Evangeline was alive because Rose was there for her.

She had been living the normal life since then, well, sort of, this explains her current rusty skills. She did use it to ensure Rose and her safety. But she basically "turned it off" when there's no need to use them, she could simply be in her own bubble and unaware of the dangers around her. On the other hand, when she was serious or chose to be out of her bubble, all senses heighten.

Evangeline bit her lips and placed the envelope away.

In the meeting room, the temperature feels eerily cold. The managers were presenting their latest idea and highlighting their results nervously to their devil. Despite being merely 30, no one doubted Carl's ability to lead the company.

After 5 hours, the meeting finally ended. Everyone, including Jerry, let out a breath of relief. Everyone simply remained seated after Carl went back to his office. They all look like their soul detached from their body.

Jerry recovered who recovered first, stood up and walked to Carl's office. He was not shaking with fear, just mentally drained from the meeting, after all, they are brothers.

"Bro, are you still down from her rejection?" Jerry said mockingly, Carl's face immediately darkens further.

"I think you should try an-" Jerry tried to suggest something enthusiastically, however, he stopped immediately when he met his brother's ice cold gaze.

"Right, I need to follow up with the finance department," Jerry quickly added before he fled. The rejection must be hard.

To be honest, the rejection does not affect Carl as much as Jerry thought, because, he managed to score a second date. He recalled that day after the bicycle date.

"Well, I will plan the next date then," Evangeline said with a cheeky smile, before heading to her apartment building.

"Oh, wait for my text," she turned back and stuck out her tongue. That was when a little smile appeared on Carl's face, as he took off his mask. Evangeline was once again mesmerised by his cute smile before she quickly realised and hurried to enter the building.

Cute. They both thought to themselves.

Carl was actually in a bad mood because Evangeline asked him out today, but she had yet to let him know the details. He was worried that the date would not happen. Carl unlocked and locked his phone, he thought of giving her a call, but he was not exactly good in words. Just then, he received a message.

"Paradise bar at 8 pm, wear a white button down shirt with jeans." Carl read the message for the fifth time, smiling all the time.

Jerry who came back to give his brother another piece of advice saw the scene with Carl's secretary, they were so shocked that they remained rooted on the floor for a while. A smile on Carl Connor Hallsworth's face. A.LOVING.LOOKING.SMILE.

That was also when Jerry realised that Carl was indeed more good looking than him, his face turned sullen as he once again walked away from Carl's office again. He cannot accept this.
