At first sight

Chapter 3

A month later...

Evangeline was posted to the triage today, it was a pretty boring day. People came in for the usual cases such as minor cuts, slight fever and likely food poisoning. She examined each patient before assigning their triage location. 

A man with rare and indefinable aura entered the walk in ED, he registered himself and sat down while waiting for triage nurse. He attracted attention from everyone with his maroon button down shirt and black pants. Despite wearing a mask covering both his nose and mouth, it was still obvious that he was extremely good looking.

Concentrated in her work, Evangeline did not notice the silence in the ED, everyone was looking at the man sitting right in front of the triage area. Twenty minutes later, the man stood up and walk towards Evangeline.

"Number 2503?"

The man nodded and took a seat as told. Their eyes met, and Evangeline was mesmerized by his grey eyes. it looked.. familiar. Realising that they had eye contact for more than 3 seconds, Evangeline turned away, embarrassed.

Looking at her folder, she asked "Mr Carl, how can I help you?"

"I had chest pain earlier on." Carl answer seriously. 

Assessing his facial expression and body language, as well as confirming with Carl himself, it seems like the chest pain subsided and does not seems like a heart attack.

"I will perform an ECG test to check your heart waves, just to ensure there isn't any abnormality okay?" Evangeline stood up with a slight smile on her face, before leading the man to a room for ECG. Carl simply replied her with a simple "Mmm", he then shook his head gently before adding "Yeah sure, thank you so much!" in a cheerful tone. 

Evangeline raised her left brow when she noticed that Carl took off his top. however he did not remove his wireless head set over his left ear. Carl noticed and replied "my work requirement" swiftly. Evangeline nodded. She could place the leads on Carl's defined chest, trying to pay most of her attention on work instead of his lean muscles. When it is done, she informed that the ECG report appears normal, however she do recommend him to stay for observation and do some test to find out the source of his chest pain. She then led him to observation room. 

Carl muttered his thanks, and watched the girl back view as she walked away.

"Grab her arm, grab her arm and ask her if you can see her again. Hurry!" The voice from Carl's headset shouted.

After making sure Evangeline was not within his view, he simply said "noisy" to whoever that was on the line.
