At first sight

Chapter 13

It was morning when Evangeline headed to the hospital. 

"Granny, I am here!" Evangeline said cheerily as she gently woke up the old lady on the hospital bed.

"Oh my little Evee!" Rose exclaimed, smiling brightly. She attempted to get up, she was however stopped by her frequent coughs.

Evangeline pouted slightly and look at Rose with worried eyes, "you should put on your oxygen, the coughing fits are stealing them away from you."

"Oh, sweet child. Don't worry, I always make sure to keep it nearby me, just in case." She stuck out her tongue cheekily. 

"I don't have much time my child... before I go,  I would really wish to see the man that helps me with all my hospital bills. The man whom my sweet child claims that he dotes on her so much."

Evangeline could only smile bitterly, she knew she shouldn't lie, "don't say such things granny, I will never let you go. I will get him to get you the best doctor, and things will definitely get better. The tumour.. we can remove it. We can do the surgery." Tears streamed down Evangeline's eyes, Rose just looked at her with kind eyes. 

"I hope it would." She gently patted Evangeline on her hand, before dozing off due to the effect of her medication. Rose was in so much pain that she has been on long-term pain relieving infusion.

In a dark clothing, Evangeline drifted through the forest with not so silent footsteps. It is obvious that she was out of touch for quite a while. She sighed as she came to a stop, panting lightly, face paled. Due to the lack of practice, she was no longer the same as before.

Evangeline continued to practice that night, she just needs to be a decent assassin, there was no need for her to be so hardcore. Of course, one of the reason was due to the fact that there is no any existent of any worthy competitor for her to work so hard.
