At first sight

Chapter 9

Evangeline stood upright instinctively as she felt a presence behind.  She twisted her key in the opposite direction to lock her door.

"What do you want Logan? Are you still on your stalker mission. " She said with a brow raised. She spun around to meet the tall man and Logan was right behind her,  he was faster than before.

"Who is that man? "

"Why? Are you jealous? Or was it that old man?  Tell him a girl can have some friends and love life. " Evangeline no longer hide her annoyance in her voice.

"Miss,  you know he cares for y-"

Before he could finish his sentence, Evangeline cut him off, "I don't want hear such disgusting words coming out from anyone's mouth. Don't force me to use what I learned against him."

Logan's gaze caught on to the bouquet of baby breathes she was gripping. 

"From that guy? "

"Does it matter? " Evangeline questioned coldly,  then proceed to unlock her apartment door and head it. 

As she sat on the sofa she thought to herself - the usual Logan would just silently follow her around,  why would he suddenly approached her? The old man is making a move?

In deep thoughts,  Logan stood outside Evangeline's door for a while.  Who can that man be?  How did he know that that's her favourite flowers?  Evangeline usually received flowers on monthly basis,  the usual 88 roses for the past few years,  Logan did not seem to mind as she usually gave them away.  Was the baby breathe sent by the same man?  Did things finally took a turn for the man who sent 88 roses every month?

Logan walked back to his apartment below and sunk into his thoughts with a can of beer. He had known Evangeline ever since she was young,  she started training various kind of martial arts with him ever since she was 14, she suppressed him easily with her talent. It was fair to say that his pride was truly hurt as he started training 5 years ahead of her. When she was 17, she became the best fighter in the underworld. That was when her father took things to another level and decided to send her for assassination training. Evangeline has always been playful,  to her, she simply enjoys learning various kind of martial arts and winning against others. She never wanted to get involved in the gang matters.

She knew that her father probably decided to get her to involve in his illegal work, or else he wouldn't invest so much in her, her and only her. She figured that he wanted her to assassinate someone,  so she ran away from home. The old man did not force to come back,  not like anyone could. He just waited because he knew she will be back and she did.  She came back six months, the once playful girl seems to lose her playfulness,  the talkative girl now rarely speaks. Not only that, she went for the program willingly, it was a five years overseas assassination program but she completed it in less than two years.  No one knew what happened in the last two years,  nobody dares to question her.  Everyone in the gang lowered their eyes when theirs met her cold ones. A few days later she ran off again, and she never came back.
