Chapter 26

Mason was sitting on his study table as he starts to plan for the upcoming camping trip, he smiled wickedly and stopped spinning the pen as a plan came to his mind.

It was noon, and Evangeline was unexpectedly sitting in front of a little boy in a cafe. She looked at him with a pleasant smile on her face, hiding the immense awkwardness she is feeling at this moment. She was never good with kids, and the situation was very unexpected. Out of nowhere, an adorable little boy with a serious expression came up to her and asked her for a cup of tea. How could anybody reject him?

“Sister Evangeline, I am here on behalf on my younger sister. She very much would like it if you would join us in our upcoming camping trip.”

Camping trip? What camping trip? Flabbergasted, Evangeline was not sure how to react to this, the way this kid talks, it was as if she was speaking to an adult. Nevertheless, she made sure she kept herself calm and collected.

“I think there might be a misunderstanding, I do not remember knowing any little girl.”

“Mason. That’s my dad’s name.”  He replied coolly, an image that does not fit a kid himself.

The slight smile on Evangeline’s face twitched at that name, it reminds her of the scene the other day. What is he planning, sending his child to her like this. It is not like she is close to Mason. Wait what? He is married, he even has two kids?!  Holding back with the questions with a sigh, she chose the safer option, “can I speak to your father?”

The little boy ponders with a serious expression on his face. “Why? If you don’t want to come, I would honestly rather you reject me upright. It’s just that my sister will be very upset.”

Ah, how can this 5(?) year old kid be so smart. She actually plan to dig out more details from Mason, before rejecting him outright. Ah.. that cunning guy, he probably knew that she would feel bad rejecting a child, thus he chose his son to run this errand. Gosh.

“What's’ your name?”

“Jayden.” He replied without blinking.

“Okay Jayden. I will go if my work allows me to, just let me know the details.”

Jayden nodded and stretched his hand out for a pinky promise, and Evangeline returned it. To be honest, Evangeline was not lying, however she knew that her work as a nurse rarely allows her to get the off days she wanted, she would intentionally not request any off days for that camping trip, and use that as a perfect excuse.

Evangeline watched as the little child stood up, his serious expression turned into a devilish smile, he is a mini Mason. “Thank you for your time. I will see you soon sister.”

Then he left, leaving a speechless Evangeline behind. Just where did he get his confidence from? Nope, not cute at al.l

“Brother! She agreed?” Mia asked with a hopeful voice, her bright eyes staring right at his brother. Jayden nodded and Mia danced happily, she then ran towards Jayden and held his hands.

“Why do you think dad wants sister Evangeline to come along, is she going to be our new mummy?” Mia questioned excitedly, before Jayden could answer he do not share the same thought, both of them found themselves being held in mid air. Mia let out a stream of giggle while Jayden pursed his lips.

“Dad, mission accomplished.”

Carrying both Mia and Jayden on each arm, “My son did well. What reward do you want?”

“I want to sleep in the same tent as uncle Carl.” Jayden said with a straight face earning a frown from Mason.

“Daddy! I want to sleep in the he same tent as uncle Jerry.” Mia whispered shyly.

Mason placed the twin down gently and obviously feeling bitter. Are you two really my children, this is betrayal! He recalled the times when Jayden even displayed a similar cold aura, he does not want Jayden to turn out as boring as his bestfriend.

Noticing how upset Mason is, Jayden sent a signal to Mia to sweeten him up. Mia then rushed to hug Mason’s leg. “Daddy, can we sleep with you tonight? Brother and I love you the most.” Only then, a smile appeared on Mason’s gloomy face, and once again carried both of them in his both arms.
