Chapter 19

Everyone remained stunned as the four leaves.  The man that was known to say few words, broke his rule today and it was shocking to everyone. Carl’s assistant was also shocked, but he was trained not to show it on his face.  

A few seconds later then the spell broken. It was normal for CEO Amy to come down to speak to the nurses before the opening of every ward or clinic,  but CEO of Hallsworth, Carl Hallsworth… the only time he came was to attend the opening of the hospital. The original Lukeworth nurses thought to themselves, is it true that there was something on between him and CEO Amy?

There were a lot of discussion going on regarding this topic, but Evangeline does not seem to mind at all. She had noticed that little smile on Carl’s face and she knew it was for her.

“Carl,  are you heading back to the main office?” Amy asked timidly,  despite knowing Carl for years, she was still intimidating by him.

“Yes.” He replied her as he continued to walk.

“Oh..  can I tagged along?  I just to head there as well.” Amy asked as she gestured her personal assistant to leave them alone.

Carl simply just gave a single nod.  

Amy let out her breathe gently as they got on the car.  With both of them sitting at the back, Amy decided to feed her curiosity.

“I am pretty surprise that you came today,  you don't usually attend minor things like this.”

To that, Carl simply answer “I may drop by more often.” Much to Amy’s disappointment, he did not explain the reason behind his trip down today. However it perks her up when he mentioned that he will be going to Lukeworth more often.

Amy was not stupid, looking at Carl’s face, she knew not to push the subject further. Of course, she really hope that his reason for dropping by more often was her.

“By the way, shall we have a reunion soon? I still remember how we used to hang out together after school. I really missed those times. It has been a few months since I last spoke to Jerry, I miss us.”

“You guys plan and let me know.” Carl said in a straight face,  however his tone slightly lighten as he reminiscent the old times where they three stayed back and study together,  despite being the same age as Amy, he often had to take the role as the big brother. He remembered there was once he sat under the tree reading as Jerry and Amy play catching, and both of them fell. He stood up quietly and stretched out both his small hands out to both of them and started to check for any injuries on their body. Together with Jerry whom was uninjured, they carried Amy back to the nurse. Not long later Amy thank them by making pressed flowers.

Noticing the lighten tone,  Amy was delighted. In a while,  they arrived at the Hallsworth building and both went their separate ways.

Amy made a mental note to plan on the reunion.  She had given up before, but the moment Carl headed over to Lukeworth Hospital on his own accord,  the hope in her grew. This time, she will do anything to get close to Carl.
