"Mom! Dad!" I scream as I get into the house
"No need to scream Jo . Your parents aren't deaf." Dad says coming downstairs.
"Joan darling. Go change into something more presentable." Mom says holding a pie.
"Sure. But gimme the pie first." I say trying to grab it from mom.
"No no. This isn't for you. Its for our new neighbors. Now go get ready we are going to welcome them." She says backing away from me.
"Are they part of our family?" I ask .
"No"
"Are they your friends?"
"No"
"Then why are we welcoming them?!" I ask flopping onto the couch.
"Because... Because it's good manners." Mom says.
"But.."
"No buts Joan. Listen to your mom." Dad pulls me up pushing me to my room.
"Thanks honey"Mom says kissing dad on his cheeks.
Within 5 minutes I put on some presentable clothes, tie my hair, brush my teeth and stand before the mirror.
"Whew!nailed it." I say fist bumping my mirror image.
"Guys I'm ready! Let's go meet our new neighbors."
