Joan's POV
"I'm pretty sure the caffeine I had was drugged." I say blinking my eyes at the sight before me.
"Why do you say so?" Noah asks turning to look at me.
"Cause I swear I can see a huge fair in all its glory with a giant wheel and shops and arcades that too in the middle of nowhere !" I response drooling at the beautiful sight in front of me.
Noah intervines our fingers."Well you're seeing that because it's right in front of you. Come on I'll show you everything."
"How do you find such placed Noah?"
He gives a tight smile." Well... when you feel like you don't deserve to be in the world , you run away. And in the process of escaping, you stumble across places..... Places that takes you back to the past, where everything was perfect even in it's imperfections."
I stop in my tracks and stare at him. His grip on my hand tightens. " You confuse me Noah. One moment you're this happy weird guy and the next moment you seem to be a very sad boy." I whisper .
He turns to me and walks closer. His hand leaves mine letting it fall to my side. He cups my cheeks staring into my eyes intensely. His green eyes, glazing due to tears he is holding back.
"Tonight let's just forget everything. Let's live in the moment. Ok?" He asks as if to tell me not to bring up this topic again. At least not tonight.
"Okay." I breath out.
Noah's POV
"I won! I won Noah!!" Joan screams on hitting the target right.
I smile. "I knew you could. Now go select you prize."
She runs to the prize counter. Placing her chin on her palm she stares at the toys trying to decide on what to pick .
I love how even a small thing makes her whole face light up. I love seeing that lips of hers stretch into a beautiful smile. I don't want to see that smile fade away. I don't want my past to haunt her as it haunts me.
She walks to me hugging a stuffed toy in her arms.
"I got Winnie the Pooh! How's it?"I act as if to look at it carefully.
"Umm looks exactly like you."I laugh as she sticks out her tounge at me.
"Hey, wanna go to the giant wheel?" I offer.
She looks at the giant wheel with a nervous look. "Umm..I-I'm not very fond of heights." She whispers looking away.
I get hold of her hand. "Well we can change that." I smile assuring her .
"Two tickets please." I speak to the mic in the counter.
Joan tugs on my shirt."Noah look a candy shop!! I can see M&M's on the front shelf."
"I'm a very determined person. You can't convince me to change my mind whisper. Now come let's go drive away your fear."
Joan's POV
"Oh no !!! It's moving! I don't want it to move." I sob clutching the toy in my arms.
Noah stretches his hand towards me."It's fine whisper. Come to me."
I shake my head."no no."
"Whisper! Look at me." Noah's Stern voice causes me to look at him.
"Just get up, take three steps and voila! You'll be here." Noah says cheerfully.
"Come on whisper you can do this."
I take deep breaths and place my feet on the surface. I get up slowly. The booth shakes on my weight.
I regret the decision as soon as I feel the vibration. But Noah doesn't give me a chance to give up. He pulls me to his lap.
I cling onto his neck.
"Hey it's fine. Don't cry." He tries to calm me.He kisses the top of my head as I rest on his shoulder inhaling his scent, calming down.
The most scariest moment of my life just turned out to be the most romantic one.
I'm never leaving this guy. Ever. That's for sure.
