Joan's POV
I ring the bell and wait for a few minutes before Lisa's face greet me.
She looks as desperate as me.
"Joan! Come on in!" She invites.
I make my way into the living room.
Funny how fast life goes. The last time I was here, I told Noah to stay away from me. And here Iam now, on the look for the same guy."Any news of him?" I ask sitting on the couch.
"Nothing. But I've got used to it." Lisa informs.
"Used? Does he do this all the time ?"
"Not all the time. Only when he misses his dad." She answers.
"Why won't he just stay with his dad then?"
She looks at me with glassy eyes on mentioning Noah's dad.
"Haven't he told you about his dad?" She croaks out.
"Only that his dad left when he was a kid." I reply.
Lisa sniffs wiping away a tear. " Yes he did leave us. Forever. Noah was only 10 when Daniel died."
It takes my brain a few seconds to register the words.
"Noah got himself into a lot of trouble since then. Blaming himself for his dad's death. But he was changing , at least that's what I thought." Lisa adds.
Lost for words I just nod. After a lonh silence I talk again. "Can I please see his room?"
"Yes sure. I'll get you something to drink by the time."
I get up and walk towards Noah's room. The door opens with a small creak. Everything looks tidy, except for his table. There are books and pencils scattered all over it. I pick up one of the books and flip through the pages.
Tears fill up my eyes as I stare at the pages. It's me! The whole book is filled with my pictures. All drawn by him.
I pick up another book. The word 'Thoughts' is written on the first page.
I flip to the next page.
'just one glance at you Love,
that's all it took me to fall for you.'A tear from my eyes drops onto the page, smudging the ink.
I hold the notebook to my chest and get out of the room. I run out of the house. Lisa Calls behind me, but I'm not in the mood to talk. I need to get away. I need to escape just like Noah.
