Sighing, I leaned against Mark as he ran his hand through my hair. It was one of the rare calming moments that we got together with all the planning to get a car and the commotion with Bella leaving going on.
"What happens if we can't find another car?" I ask out loud and Mark pauses for a moment, placing a kiss on my right temple.
"We'll figure something out, we always seem to." He says and I nod my head, closing my eyes for a moment.
It was a moment where we seemed to be content with everything and come morning and we'd be off to find a car. The calm moments are the ones that I seem to live for now a days.
Only a moment goes by before I'm brought back to reality by the sound of Lynne screaming my name. It wasn't just a scream that your parents do to call you when you get in trouble or the school calls the house. It's a scream of utter panic and fear.
I sat up straight, motioning for Mark to stay there as I jumped off the bed, already missing laying with Mark, and grabbing my python just in case.
I ran out of my room, a tight grip on the gun as I ran to where she was only to see Jinxx beside her and someone in front of her. I loosened my grip on the python as I looked at the pair, who had their backs to me.
"Lynne?" I asked and they both looked to me. This was probably one of the first times that I've seen Jinxx cry. That scared me even more then the scream that left Lynne to get me here.
Jinxx motioned for me to close the door and I did, raising an eyebrow to him before he moved out of the way and I felt my world come crashing down in one swing.
There, sitting on the bed, was Bella, her sleeve yanked up to show the scars and cuts that I knew all too much. My hands began to shake as I dropped my gun to the floor and walked up to her.
"I'm sorry. . ." She whispered to me and I shook my head at her, kneeling down and gently holding her face in my hands. My hands shook a bit and tears ran down my face.
"No, Bella. . .I'm so sorry. . .I'm sorry that we've been so distracted to pay attention to you since Mark and Lisa got here. I'm sorry that I've been a terrible person for letting you feel like you shouldn't be here. I'm so sorry that I let you fall down the same path as I did. I'm so fucking sorry Bella, I didn't want you to get hurt, I didn't want you to ever have a reason to do this. I'm so so fucking sorry Bella." I cried, pulling the girl into my arms.
She hugged me back, at this point not caring about the blood that was now getting onto my jacket. That didn't matter, it just went with the rest of the blood that was on the jacket.
"Don't do it again. Please princess, don't ever do this again." I say and I could feel her nod a bit as I now sat on the floor with the young girl in my arms and a bit of a shocked look from Jinxx. "Promise me, please?" I asked and she pulled back, looking at me with teary eyes.
"Promise."
