Niall Horan had spent his last few days watching his blue haired love from the comfort of his bedroom window. It had gone to the extent of him moving his bed towards it so he could see her beautiful face writing in her journal.

He had come across her writing in it a few times when she lived with him. She had told him its name was Elliot and it was there for her. Part of Niall was jealous of the inanimate object that held such a special place in her heart and the other part was just happy it was helping g her get better.

That evening, Harry had banged on Niall’s door, sounding hurt and pissed off. But mostly very hurt. He knew he had to be a good friend but he also knew that broken people couldn’t fix other broken people.

Niall had seen Harry walk up to meet Cass but just couldn’t decide what for since they had never had a proper sober conversation. He watched as their unheard conversation went back and forth until they sat down on those grass covered steps and smoked.

It was as if they made his heart their ash tray, pressing the burning cigarette unto it, not caring about its damage. He used to think it was their thing, something they held sacred but apparently he was proved wrong.

Niall watched as Cass cried into her cigarette, squinting as much as possible to drive them away from her system. It took him so much to stay in his place by the window. All he could do was screaming at Harry to hold her like he couldn’t and wipe her tears away. Tears that he had caused.

But Harry didn’t, he didn’t know that she liked to be held. He didn’t know that she just needed a reassuring smile to bring her back to reality.

Niall had watched them begin to converse again but it had started to hurt even more so he left. He went out the back and drove to the park, taking the long way to avoid having Cass see him.

Niall drove to the park and sat on their bench. And cried.

He ignored the stares of people around him because he didn’t know them and he wasn’t going to see them again so he didn’t understand why he should care. He sat out there, cursing himself for forgetting his wallet at home and rendering him with nothing to eat.

Even if he had gone home, by the time he came back, the only store that didn’t remind him of her would be closed.

He felt his brain push him to just open his fridge again but he knew that if he opened it again, he would never stop checking it for another letter. He had given up hope after breaking the light in it from his least to say frequent openings.

But then he disregarded it because the hunger was nothing compared to his pain.

Niall had woken up that morning, still hungry and still in pain. He decided to go see Cass again to let her know that he will always be there for her. Let her know that he will always love her. He pulled into her empty driveway and opened the door to her sobbing mother.

‘‘You!'' she pointed her finger at Niall. ''You’re the reason she’s gone!''

Niall’s heart began to race. Had he hurt her so much she had to leave town? ‘‘What? Where did she go? I did-''

‘‘Shes at the bloody train station waiting for you. I told her you wouldn’t see the note but she was very convinced you wouldn’t not open your fridge.'' she rolled her eyes.

Niall ran faster than he ever had in his life. He didn’t have time to get in his car and wait for the engine to go. He didn’t have enough patience to sit still and rely on other vehicles move fast enough.

He ran all the way to the station with his stomach punching itself because of its lack of food but the hunger barely registered in his brain.

He sped through the train station avoiding the security guards who chased after him requesting he buys a ticket but there was no time.

He saw Cass standing by the tracks, waiting for the train to enter through the tunnel. Niall smiled and stopped moving, taking in sharp breaths and walking closer to her.

The security guards held his arms and he screamed, trying to explain that his girlfriend was waiting for him, attempting to describe Cass without the ability to point at her with his clasped hands but finding it difficult with the noise of the engine.

He dug one hand out and pointed to Cass who had dropped Elliot on the floor behind her. What the hell was she doing?

As the Noise of the train got louder Niall agreed and dug out a hundred pounds from his pocket, more than he would have hoped for but it didn’t matter. He looked towards Cass had stepped back a few meters. Niall continuously tried to pull his other hand out from the police officers who didn’t accept the money but he didn’t care.

The train was finally visible and he turned his head back to Cass who had begun running forward. Niall screamed, pulling himself out of the grip of the now distracted police men, using the new found strength his adrenaline had finally brought him; running to her as fast as he could but he didn’t reach her fast enough.

Her screams of pain echoed through train station as her body tumbled over the train, jumping and turning over until it slipped between the large link between the two vehicles, falling unto the edge and landing in fetus position.

Niall had fallen unto his knees in shock and terror with thousands of tears slipping out of his eyes at once. He crawled towards her bloodied body not being able to recognize any part of her face but the dirty blue hair on her head. He screamed louder and pulled her up placing kissed on her cheek, the only part of her face that wasn’t splattered.

The police made their way towards him, trying to pry Cass out of his hands but he kept of kissing her, inhaling the scent of her once lively hair. Still screaming his many I love you’s.

The police men had rushed a paramedic that sedated Niall, using the opportunity to pull Cass put of his hands, dragging both of them away.

Niall Horan woke up at four o’clock that evening and jumped out the window hospital in fetus position because he knew he meant it when he said there was no point living without her.

A young nurse was left to deal with the patients belonging and found Elliot. She had decided to throw her away but after flipping through her pages, she gave them to a patient in the mental health facility that she told the story. This girl decided to write to Cass instead of Elliot because she decided Elliot belonged to Cass and it wasn’t right to steal someone who held a soul.
