I'm early!!!! YAAY!
_________________________"Ready?" Melissa asked as I stepped out of the locker room.
I wore the orange t-shirt that I packed with the black jeans and brown boots. My hair was in the same pigtails that I had before, and I draped a dark cloak around me as to not be recognized.
Hopefully no one will notice me.... I thought.
"Yep. Ready," I said with a nervous smile as we left the gym. Melissa and I walked in complete silence; neither of us dared to speak. Soon, we were at the west of the castle in front of the tall stone wall. Using a nearby tree, I climbed up on the wall.
"I guess this is goodbye," I said sadly, glancing back at my friend from my spot on the wall. "Take care of yourself Crystal," she said, her eyes glistening with tears. I nodded with a small smile on my lips before jumping over the wall.
This is it, I thought. There's no turning back now.
A sudden wave of excitement washed over me as I raced down the hill. With every step I took I felt the adrenaline pumping through me, giving me energy to run even faster. I held tightly onto my cloak as a strong breeze brushed by.
As I ran, I couldn't help but smile. Sure, I just ran away from my entire family, my best friend in the whole world and my home, but I felt something that I'd never felt before.
Something that I longed to have but could never quite reach it.
I felt freedom.

After reaching the bottom of the hill, I made a detour through the forest so no one would see me near to the castle. "I've never seen this many trees before," I whispered, glancing around at the endless green trees. I gasped as I saw a fluffy creature run by.
I slowly walked up to it. It was a tiny white bunny with huge, adorable blue eyes. "Aww.." I whispered as I knelt down beside it and slowly rubbed its head. "I haven't seen a bunny in years."
A rustling sound behind me caused me to quickly jump up. I held my hands in front of me with a trail of water next to it from a nearby pond. "Who's there?" I asked the darkness.
No answer.
I slowly moved towards the bush with my fists clenched and the water following beside me. The rustling grew louder and louder until something jumped out.
A deer.
"WOW!" I exclaimed too loudly. The water splashed to the ground beside me as I lowered my hands and sighed in relief.
It had been I while since I'd been outside. My mother had kept me in the castle for such a long time that I forgot how the real world looked.
As I walked, my pace gradually began to slow down and I shivered violently. Even though it was hot in the summer days, the nights got extremely cold.
My eyes widened as I spotted a tiny light source up ahead. I ran eagerly towards it and was greeted by a warm sensation. I peeped through the bushes and saw it. I had finally made it back to town. "Yes," I whispered as I did a little victory dance.
Okay Crystal. Just act normal, I thought before completely stepping through the bushes.

There were people. Everywhere.
Even though it was night time, the town square was packed with people. On the side of the stone road were multiple shacks and stalls. Some had normal items like bags and clothes, while others had food on display.
Food... I thought.
I held my head low and peeped through the gaps of the cloak. There were people walking around, talking to friends and completely minding their own business. I was glad no one noticed me.
Suddenly, a bald dark-skinned man who looked like Mr. Clean jumped in front of me. "Hello miss! Would you like to purchase a bottle of my hair growth shampoo?" His slightly Australian voice said as he shoved the product in my face. "Love it or your money gets taken back!" He looked down in thought, "Wait. That's not right."
"Move it chump! I saw her first!" Another male said, shoving the Australian guy out of the way. "How about some jewelry?" "N-no. I'm f-fine.." I said, trying to disguise my voice. "No no no. She wants some perfume!" A lady ran up to us.
"Who wants your perfume Suzy!? It smells like dead frogs!"
"Well your shampoo makes people LOSE their hair! And by the way, it's 'like it or your money back'."
"The lady OBVIOUSLY wants some jewelry!"
While they argued back and forth, I was luckily able to escape undetected. I ran and ran as fast as I could hoping not to draw too much attention, and finally slowed down at an isolated part of town.
"I should find a place to rest for tonight..." I thought out loud. I kept walking until I found a quiet spot between two broken-down stalls. I made myself comfortable using my backpack for a pillow and the two towels I had to keep me warm. I snuggled up comfortably with the cloak wrapped tightly around me, and soon began to fall asleep.
"It's a bit rundown for the princess, but it'll do..." I muttered.
"Did you say princess?"
My eyes widened as I heard the voice and immediately sat up from my spot. There was a short, old man with an extremely long grey beard and an old straw hat. There was a long moment of silence between us until he burst into a fit of laughter and scampered off.
"Okay then..." I said before going back to sleep.
That guy's lost a few screws, I thought.
Nope. The whole toolbox.
