There I was. Back in the castle.
It felt strange being back home after all those weeks, but I had no choice since I was basically dragged there. I stood in the throne room with my parents sitting on their respective thrones. "What do you have to say for yourself?" My mother asked angrily. I remained silent, biting my hip and hanging my head shamefully.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered, my eyes glued to the floor. "I'm just so glad you're alright," dad said. Even though it was dark, I could see his droopy eyes. He must have been extremely tired. "I knew you would rebel at your age," mom started as she got up from her seat and approached me. "But I never expected it to be to this extent." "But mom I-"
"Be QUIET Crystal!" She boomed. "You've done enough! Now the whole kingdom knows that you ran away AND you have the power of only ONE element!" "Mom, I can explain!" I tired to reason with her, but it was no use. "I don't want to hear it," she turned away from me and held her head. "Seeing what you've just done proves that you have too much independence."
Snapping her fingers, two guards came up to us and stood beside me. "Bring her to her room." With that said, the guards grabbed my wrists and led me away from the throne room. I didn't even bother to retaliate because I knew no matter how hard I fought, my mother would always win.
Although my dad was the more compassionate one, he didn't tell the guards to stop. It was probably because he thought it was the best for me. Then there was my mom. She seemed extremely disappointed in me. I was so close... I thought as the guards brought me up the stairs.
I immediately face-palmed when I remembered something. I forgot to tell mom about the war.... I thought.
Great.

After such a long time, I was back in my room. I wasn't alone though. Standing before me was the dark haired girl herself. All those memories of us playing dress-up and putting on make up seemed so distant. Suddenly, she jump forward
and wrapped her arms around my neck. "Crystal..." she sighed."Heyyyyy Lucy."
"You ran away?" She asked as we sat on my bed. "I had to," I mumbled. "That was reckless and dangerous!" She started punching my shoulder roughly. "You could have gotten hurt! What made you think running away was the best option?!" I leaned towards her and whispered, "I learnt the four elements."
"YOU LEARN THE FO-" "Shhh!" I clasped my hand over her mouth and suddenly pulled away. "Gross! Did you lick my hand?" She looked at me with a serious expression. "Tell me everything."
I sighed, trying to arrange my thoughts as I explained everything to her. I told her about the magical temple that held all the secrets to learning the elements. I even talked about the dreams and how my crazy uncle was going to cause a war. It felt relieving to talk to someone about what was going on after all those weeks.
"And now my mom captured my friends and locked them up because she thought they kidnapped me..." "Wow," she sighed. "You've been through a lot." "I know," I muttered. Lucy suddenly jumped up. "Well what are you waiting for!?"
"Whatever sick punishment my mom has for me tomorrow?" I quirked an eyebrow at her. "No no. You have to prepare for whatever attack's gonna come!" "Hate to break it to you Luc' but I'm kinda stuck in my room with two guards watching my door."
"Don't worry," she said, stepping to the door. "You just get ready and wait for my signal." Just before she cracked open the door, I stopped her. "Thank you Lucy." "No problem Crystal," she grinned as she left the room. I heard some mumbling on the other side of the door as I got ready. Since my jeans had multiple tears, I got a cleaner pair with the sneakers I had in my backpack.
Then the door cracked open and Lucy's head peeped through. "I told the guards you're asleep," she said as I stepped out. "Good luck." I gave her one final hug before running through the hallway and down the stairs.
I slowly went down the steps, holding tightly onto the railing and glancing around to ensure I wasn't being followed. The throne room was pitch black, nearly impossible for me to get through. Luckily, I still remembered the entire castle like the back of my hand.
I stepped down from the stairs, holding my arms out to feel for any objects. Soon, I made it all the way back to the dining room. "Finally," I sighed. I eagerly started running towards another doorway which led to the basement's stairs.
"Now all I have to do is find the others and bust them outta here." After taking a few steps, my head bumped into a soft fabric that strangely felt harder than a brick. I hesitantly glanced up, already knowing that I had bumped into someone.
Her sapphire blue eyes somehow glimmered brightly in the dark, showing a sign of anger and annoyance. Her arms were folded stiffly across her chest and a surprised expression was on her face.
Of course, it was my mother.
