"Would someone like to elaborate here," I said in a sassy tone. "How did I not know about this dude?" "Because we didn't want to scare you," mother said sympathetically.

"Crystal.." I turned to my father. "You're not the first person in royalty to only have control over one element." "Really?" I whispered. "Yes...." My mother began.

"Back then, my brother and I were competing for the throne. It was when my father broke the news to him that he couldn't be king with one element," my eyes widened as she continued. "Water."

I glanced nervously at my hands.

So he is just like me..... I thought.

"Everyday, he would work hard to unlock his other powers, but nothing worked. For sixteen years he remained optimistic that he would get it soon, but father grew more and more impatient." My mother hesitated before muttering, "He banished him from ever setting foot on Coralon. He told the world that my brother was dead and I was forced to be the new queen..."

"And you ALLOWED this!?" I raised my voice unintentionally at my grandmother. "My father was uncontrollable back then," my mom answered. "He would do anything even if it meant looking after Coralon before looking after his family."

There was a long, thoughtful silence before an explosion of realization came in my head.

This uncle guy was just like me. His only element was water. He kept training until the age of sixteen just like me. The only difference was that he got banished.

"S-so you're gonna banish me, or something?" I stuttered nervously as I backed out of my seat. "Of course not Crystal!" My mom yelled. "Well then there must be a reason why I'm getting these dreams!"

"That's the thing," my father sighed. "We think Damian is returning. Soon." "What happens if he does?" I asked. "We don't know," Beth answered. "But if I got banished for over twenty years, I would come back for revenge."

Wow.

I couldn't believe them. They kept this whole thing a secret. If this guy was to return for revenge, we wouldn't have been ready. Especially since I was getting no where in my training. I clenched my fists and furrowed my eyebrows as I said through gritted teeth, "I need to get to training."

"But you've hardly touched your food yet," mother said. I sighed as I walked away. "I've lost my appetite."

I ran up to my room and got ready for training. I wore a dark purple tank top and light blue leggings with my hair in a pigtails. After packing my bag with a few extra things, I dashed out of the castle on my way to the gym.

"Crystal! You're here!" I heard Melissa say as I stepped into the gym. "Hey..Mel," I wore a fake smile, throwing my heavy bag to the ground. "Your bag looks extra heavy."

I sat beside the bag and started unpacking its contents. An orange t-shirt, black skinny jeans, brown hiking boots, a toothbrush, a pair of sneakers, two water bottles, a holo-vice and two towels. "Woah," she gasped when she saw. "You planning on going somewhere?"

I avoided her gaze as I whispered, "I'm running away."

"I'm sorry. I don't think I heard you right," she said I'm a calm voice. "YOU'RE WHAT?!?!?"

I patted the space beside me, gesturing her to sit. As soon as she sat down, I tried my best to calmly explain everything. From the very first dream to the princess duties then Jordan, then the parade and then my uncle.

She looked extremely shocked. "Okay... so lemme get this straight," she said shakily. "You've been having these dreams about your so called 'uncle'," she made air quotes. "And now you think the only way to prepare for his 'arrival'," she gestured again. "Is to run off into the dangerous streets of Coralon and find someone to teach you?"

I nodded slowly. She got up and folded her arms with a stern look on her face as she said, "Yeah, there's no way I'm letting you do that."

"But Mel-" "But nothing Crystal," she looked down at me. "As your royal trainer and your best friend, I have to advise you not to run away." I stood up and faced her with a stern look as well and said, "Let's face it Melissa. I'm a complete disgrace to my family because I have only one element. This Damian guy thinks he can just waltz in here and seek revenge on my family, and you expect me to just stand by and watch?"

I watched her facial expression soften as I continued. "Please. We both know that this training is getting me no where. I have this feeling in my gut that I'm supposed to be out there learning the elements the hard way. We're best friends.... I know. But just trust me on this one."

I held her hands in mine and searched her face for an answer. After what felt like forever, she gave a defeated sigh. "Fine," she mumbled. I instantly embraced her in a gigantic hug.

"Thank you," I whispered.
