Chapter 23: You're My Santara
"Wakey wakey rise and shine boy. It's your first day of school." I yelled over the phone.
"Nooooo. I don't want to." He whined.
"Get your butt off your bed and get ready. Kapoor. You have half an hour before Zee's Jeep is in your driveway." I said and hung up.
I stared at the platinum ring on my index finger. Last night was seriously the best nights of my life.
I had decided to keep an Indian look for today. Well, actually Tara wanted us to be twinning in patialas and kurtas with the typical Punjabi look. I really don't know why. Bibz had tied my hair into a neat French braid with a few strands coming out.
Don't judge. Tieing a French braid is not easy!I walked downstairs to find Oreo on Zee's lap. Zee was playing PUBG on his phone while Oreo quietly slept on his knees.
"Zeeshan! Eat your breakfast! You'll be late for school!" Bibz yelled.
"Coming Ma!"
"Is Riya downstairs yet?" Tara shouted.
"Right here." I replied.
"Good morning, Chiku." Bhai said.
"Good morning Guddu." I said.
"You know how I feel about that nickname." He said.
"You know how I feel about that nickname."
"Come back home straight after school. Rachel and I leave tomorrow. We'll hang out." Bhai said.
"But..you came yesterday! You can't leave so soon." I protested.
"You'll see me soon." He said.
I gulped down the cup of black coffee and took a buttered toast and walked towards the garage.
"We need to be at Kabir's in ten. Parker's going in Jesse's car today. So, move your butts suckers." I said.
"You seem to be in a really good mood today." Tara said.
I just raised my right hand hoping she would see the ring.
And she did. (With a squeal which almost made me deaf )."Hey! Stop disconnecting my phone with the car's speaker." I told Zee.
"Promise me you won't switch on some Taylor Swift song. You're still obsessed with her!" Tara said.
"Listen, life is too short to not listen to Taylor Swift. So, I ain't stopping. And chill, I am feeling Eminem today." I said.
" 'Sup Singhanias." Kabir said.
"Stuff Kapoor." Zee replied.
"Bam What!" Tara and I said in unison.
A moment of silence. And then the car fills with laughter.
" We still have it." I said.
"Forever and always." Zee said.
"The Core Four." Kabir said.
"Together forever" Tara said.
"So, anything interesting about Redfields High?" Kabir asked.
"Exactly how wattpadders describe American high schools." I said.
"What's with you and Indian clothes today?" Kabir asked.
"It's really hot today, plus, I didn't feel like wearing a dress." I said.
"Unlike Regina and co. who love showing their two B's." Tara said.
