Chapter 30: I Could've Died, You Know.

"Ri! You never lock your door!" My cousin yelled from outside.

"Shhh. I'm coming."

"Why have you locked your door?" She kept on yelling.

"Promise me you won't shout when I open this door, no matter what you see." I said.

"Open. The. Fucking. Door."

I opened the door. She was about to scream as she saw the familiar figure on my bed, but I placed my hand tightly on her mouth and locked the door once again.

"Breathe, Tara. Breathe. You'll wake him up if you shout anymore." I said.

She fumbled.

"Cool?" I said and removed my hand from her mouth.

"What is he doing here? Did you two--?"

"No. No. You know I am not ready to do that stuff right now."

I narrated the events of last night to her.

"He slept at 2 in the morning. Let him sleep." I said.

"So, he finally told you the secret buried in his heart for four years." She said.

"Yeah. And I really wanna help him get past that. "

"You guys will probably be the first couple to get married in the future." Tara said smiling.

"Shut up." I said.

"The bathroom's free incase you want to take a shower. And Mom's called for breakfast in fifteen."

"Ugh! Remind me to tie my hair before I sleep." I said brushing my wet hair trying to get rid of the knots.

A pair of hands crept around my waist and a head rested on my shoulder.

"Good morning!" I said.

"How could you take a shower without inviting me? I'm hurt Supergirl."

"Ugh! That clichéd line again. Have you been reading too many romance stories Parker?"

"No." He protested as I pushed him away.

"You need to get back home." I said.

"Trying to get rid of me, are you?"

"I'm concerned about Maya. She'll freak out if she finds an empty bed!"

"What are you wearing tonight?" He asked snaking his arms around my waist.

"8 hours." I said.

"Not fair."

"I give you 10 seconds to jump out of the window."

"I'm--"

"9. 8. 7."

"Okay. I'm leaving."

"Atta Boy."

"This is all the imitation gold jewellery that mom had."

"And you kids still don't know how to wear a Saree." Bibz came into the room.

"Thank God! This is a nightmare. The last time I wore one was on Saraswati Puja last year."

"Darling, I wore a Saree last time in 8th Grade."  Tara said.

"Can't beat that."
