Chapter 46: 28 And Still Single

"You're sharing with Charlotte. I'm with Adi." I told Tara.

We were on the train waiting for Daads and Adi to arrive. Well, not exactly on the train, we were on the platform, drinking the famous train station coffee. Bibz had forbidden us to bring any of the Adams' to drink this coffee because, they were in very simple terms, not used to this kind of food and no one wanted them to get sick right before the wedding.

"Nooooo. I wanna share with Adi." Tara whined.

"Speaking of Adi, where is she?" Bhai said.

Trust me, if this was an Indian soap opera, this would be the scene where everyone would be looking at the heroine walking towards someone from quite a distance in total slow motion.

"Naam liya aur shaitaan haazir." Zee commented.

"Adiiiiiiiiiiii" Tara and I yelled making almost the entire station filled with people stare at us.

The three of us hugged for what felt like eternity.

"Breaking the record, aren't you?" Bhai said hugging her.

"28 and still single. I managed. You didn't." She told Bhai.

"If you're done, can we go? We'll miss the train." Zee said.

"Zeeshu!" Adi said pulling his cheeks hard on purpose.

"Ow!" Zee said annoyed.

"Yeh abhi bhi chirta hai." Adi said, laughing, as she wrapped her arm around my shoulder.

"C'mon. We want you to meet the Adams." Tara said.

We walked towards our compartment, after grabbing a few snacks for the others.

"Just don't give them Blue Lays. They'll die." Tara told Zee.

"Bandar! Niche aa ja." She told Kabir, who had settled himself on the upper bunk on the right.

"Aditi has de has de has de has de has de has de tu zara. Nahi toh bas thora thora thora thora thora thora muskura." Kabir began singing as soon as he jumped down.

"Hey buddy." She said hugging him.

"I missed you guys so much!" Adi said looking at us.

"Adi! Did you forget about me, already?" Rachel said.

"How could I forget the woman who has taken up the task to keep Armaan at his toes." Adi said.

"Um... Guys?" I heard Charlotte speak uneasily.

"Oh my god. I am so sorry!" Tara and I said in unison realising that we had forgotten to introduce Adi to the others.

"Wait. Let me guess. Charlotte, right?"

"The one and only." She replied.

"And the twin, Jesse."

"Pleasure to meet you."

"And, Parker Adams. I've heard a lot about you."

"Good things I hope." He replied smirking.

"There are two more, I think?"

"Nope. 4."

"Buaaaaaa." Aman yelled as he ran towards us.

"Golu's a big boy." Adi said as she knelt down and hugged Aman and Nats.

"What about me?" Nats asked.

"You? You're still my baby girl." Adi said.

"But I want to be a big girl."

"You are a big girl. But you're my baby girl." Adi said.

"Ah! Another pair of twins! How many of you are there?" Adi said as Austin and Ally walked up to us

"Three pairs if you count us." Tara and Zee said in unison.

"Where are Dylan and Toby?" I asked.

"Dylan's probably chatting with his boyfriend and Toby is with Dad handling some office work." Rachel said.

"No worries. I'll meet them later. But I want to know what's going on in your lives." Adi said.

"Adi, we know you're going to spend the rest of the week with them, so why don't you show your face to your brother and sister in law once." Bibz said.

"Bhabs!" Adi exclaimed. "It's so good to see you!"

"My brother!" Adi exclaimed hugging Chachu.

"My sister!"

"How are we siblings again?" Adi said.

"Because you're adopted." Chachu laughed.

"Don't you think I am too old for that 'Siddhi Vinayak' joke?" Adi said.

"Nope. You're still my baby sister, Ads."

"Stop calling me that." Adi said hitting him on the shoulder.

"No no. Separate." Bibz moved the two of them away from each other.

"We're not kids anymore, babe." Chachu told her.

"Uh-huh." Bibz said. "Believe me.I have known you all my life. One, as my arch enemy from high school and the other as someone whose diapers I changed. I know how quickly the 'one tap on the shoulder' can elevate into 'Rahul and Aditi on the ground trying to kIll each other.' "

"Killer argument Bibz!" I said.

"Anyways, the train is about to start soon. So, choose your bunks and just do what you want." Chachu said before leaving.

"Zee, Kabir, come in half an hour to take your dinner." Bibz said.

I looked at Tara, Zee and Kabir. They stared at me.

"1. 2. 3." Tara mouthed and we ran.

Kabir and Zee climbed up on to the upper bunks as Tara climbed up om the side upper. I quickly sat on the side lower one.
Adi laughed her heart out.

"What was that?" Parker said, a little horrified.

"They did that so they don't have to wake up early in the morning. Well, not until their breakfast arrives." Adi said.

"The simple logic behind this is," Tara started explaining. "The people who sleep on the middle or the lower bunks, have to get up as well as go to sleep early because of the design of the train."

"If one decides to go to sleep, the other one has to." I continued.

"And the four of us, don't sleep on trains at night. We sleep in the mornings. From around 3 to 7, for four hours." Kabir said.

"And that is because the train slows down in the middle of the night. And we have this kind of pact of watching YJHD and K3G until we feel like sleeping." Zee said.

"Wow." Charlotte said.

"But how do the four of you watch it together? Cause you two are up there, and the other two are down here." Jesse asked.

"You'll see." I smiled.

"Adi, where are you gonna gonna sleep?" Zee asked.

"In the next compartment. With Armaan, Rachel, Bibz and Rahul bhai. So, I am gonna go now. You kids have fun. And help your friends with the beds. I am going to spend my night binge watching Peaky Blinders." Adi said.

"Kay kay." I said.

___________

That is it for today.

Do you guys like Adi yet? Adi's character is kind of based on a mixture of me and two of my best friends. So, basically, an energetic and quirky yet dark character.
