Chapter 42 : Hairspray Sucks.
"Que pasa, hermanita?" I asked Tara.
"Nada." She replied.
Lacasa De Papel and Elite had lead to a newfound love for Spanish for the two of us. The two of us had been binge-ing the two shows non stop for a week. Basically, if I was Nairobi, Tara was my Tokyo and if I was Rebekah, Tara was my Nadia.
The two of us had learnt French in India during middle school as our third language and this, thought it was better to opt for French in high school too. Thus, we didn't understand Spanish very well, except a few basic sentences. We were presently sitting in our hotel room after presenting our act for the final performance.
"I know when something's up. You do know that by now, I hope." I laughed.
"Oh yes, I do. It's nothing, I promise." She turned towards me and smiled.
"I am not convinced with that smile of yours. But it's okay if you don't want to talk about it." I said wiping the rest of the makeup of my face.
"And if you're concerned about the musical we just put up, let me just tell you, we did great. All of us.""Mango or orange?" Veronica asked as Claire and she came into the room with juice boxes.
"Mango." I said.
"Orange." Tara replied.
"You need help with that?" I asked Claire who had just started to try to let her hair loose.
"Hairspray sucks." Claire said.
I looked at Tara and laughed.
"What happened?" Veronica looked at us.
"Nothing much. Its just that Riya and I have a lot of bad experiences with hairspray. We hated using it during our school plays."
I took a few drops of hair oil in my hand and started applied it to Claire's hair.
"And this is the only cure." I said.
"Claire, you're gonna feel awesome after this entire session is over. No one gives good hair massages like Riya." Tara said.
"Tara's better than me." I said.
"As much as I hate applying oil in my hair, this feels good." Claire said.
"And you're done." I said as tied her hair into a plait. "Keep it for the night and shampoo it tomorrow morning. Your hair will be all set for the farewell dance."
"You want me to do yours?" Tara asked.
"Please?" I said and sat on the ground in front of her.
"Victorious or Wizards of Waverley Place?" Claire asked.
"Pardon?" Veronica asked.
"What do you wanna watch? Victorious or Wizards?"
"Wizards." Tara and I replied in unison.
"4th Season. Any episode, please?" Veronica said.
"With Gregg Sulkin." Tara added.
"Yes, with Gregg Sulkin." Claire said.
"Room Service!"
"Its probably dinner. I'll get it." I said.
"Thank you." I said shutting the door.
"We're gonna eat sitting on the floor?" Veronica asked.
"Darling, there are two very good ways of how to eat. One is sitting on the floor and eating." Tara said.
