He's Got A Love Like Woe:
Scene One:
Jordan was nervous as he remembered every single tour date and location his manager had repeated to him and the reminding prospect that he was going on tour in only a few days only furthered his nerves to spring to life. Naturally Jordan had been on tour before but it always seemed like he was a teenager again, trying to make his way into the harsh world of music. And once again, Jordan's stomach lurched with anxiety and worry, yet none of his friends accompanying him on this touring trip even bothered to cast Jordan a second glance. This was an occurring habit with him, sadly.
Except this one was quite different from his usual habits; such as biting his fingernails, or cracking his knuckles. Ones which his mother never enjoyed him having and badgered him constantly about them.
As the group passed a sign indicating the miles they are about to reach to get to their destination, Jordan just cursed this languid trip and prayed that it would go much faster than the pace it was headed in already. He was thrilled to meet with other singers and start to renew old friendships that were broken due to distance and other events.
But in reality, Jordan really only wanted to see a few of his fellow mates. Even though Jordan was entirely sociable and has made many different types of friends while staying backstage or hanging around some other bands' tents, he only had a select few that he continued to stay in contact with. His best friend being Christofer, whom Jordan had grown quite close with over the past few years since his blossoming career as a musician.
Speaking of Christofer; Jordan couldn't help but remind himself of how different Christofer really was from other guys he knew and associated himself with. Other than most of his mates, Christofer openly indulged in dangerous activities and actions. Jordan really wasn't much of a smoker or drinker, but Christofer went beyond simple guilty pleasures of the two. In fact, the striking resemblence Christofer had with addicts of such indulgences made Jordan a little wary on occasions.
Jordan's friend turned to him, suddenly. Keegan was not only his friend since they were in the same band, but he also was a great companion when it came to needing someone to stay loyal and trustworthy. He had proven himself multiple times in the past and Jordan wondered where he would be if it weren't for his dark haired friend. "Are you going to tease the crowd with a few new songs today?" Keegan asked, absentmindedly tuning his guitar.
Jordan shrugged, his foot tapping impatiently at the discussion of what was expected of him later in the day. "Probably, I figured it would be something the audience wouldn't forget. Besides, Pete said it will only take a few more weeks to finish the album anyway." Just the thought alone of the new album made Jordan want to groan. The stress and pressure of needing to create new lyrics and beats to a certain due date always made Jordan's skin crawl -- this was the worst part about recording deals, living up to someone else's higher standards.
All was forgotten once the van pulled into the parking lot of the event of the evening. The boys hollered and whooped, throwing their hands in the air as the warm, southern weather washed over each and every one of them. Jordan smiled at his friends' silly antics before he was crushed into a tight hold, his body pressed against another, with someone's hot breath hitting his ear. At first Jordan froze, not knowing if he was suddenly in the arms of a fan who made an attempt at stalking him but once the smell of fresh tabacco and cigarettes hit his nostrils, Jordan relaxed into the arms of Christofer.
"Jordan! Long time no see, bud." Christofer said, his distinct Missouri accent fluently showing itself through his tone. Christofer's arms tugged Jordan once more, before pulling away to smile at the bashful boy. Christofer's smile seemed practically radiant, his lip piercing shining and gleaming against the sun's violent rays on such a warm, summer evening. Jordan didn't fail to notice even that small, minuscule detail while taking in his friend's appearance. Christofer was wearing his usual floppy wolf hat, letting his hair flatten down his face as black paint smudges were smeared on his cheeks. And Jordan blatantly wondered how it stayed perfectly intact, even after a long concert.
Jordan laughed, "I know. It seems like I barely recognize you anymore, it's been too long." Without bothering to care or notice, Jordan's arms wrapped Christofer into his embrace once more. It was fine, until Christofer started to squirm and struggle against Jordan's never ending hold. Jordan was too caught up to realize Christofer's obvious tinge of discomfort.
"Jordan, you can let go now." Christofer breathed, while gently pushing his friend away. Christofer let out an awkward laugh as Jordan's arms slowly dissembled themselves from being wrapped around Christofer's back. The pressure of both bodies retreating, as the both of the boys shook off the awkwardness.
It was only a hug, no big deal.
There seemed to be a heavy silence among the gathered groups of mates and friends, and Christofer greatly broke it, leaving Jordan to breathe in relief and rub the back of his neck in embarrassment.
Christofer laughed, shaking his head slightly as if to forget that little mishap even happened at all. "Wejust need to wait on the other bands and we're all ready to start setting up the instruments." He clapped his hands together in finality and went to go help the band unload the said instruments.
Jordan just stayed in his place, his eyes steadily watching Christofer's body retreat. His skinny, little legs in those tight jeans, with the infamous holes by his knees and his plaid shirt. Jordan seemed to realize his friend hadn't really changed at all over the time that separated the two.
Turning to help his own band, Jordan involuntarily sniffed his shirt which now contained a hint of Christofer's smokey scent. A scent that was now permanently imprinted in Jordan's mind and frankly he doubted if he ever wanted to forget it.
