bev walked through the dewy night grass of eddie's front yard and searched around for small pebbles. she found a few by a small potted plant and grabbed a handful and started softly tossing them at eddie's window to get his attention.
eddie had stolen a small mirror from his mom's room and was still trying to wipe off the lipstick. he had many paper towels scattered around his desk from his many failed attempts. eddie had began to cry out of frustration and flopped onto his bed. he heard the crinkle of his drawing under his pillow and immediately ripped it out from underneath the pillow. he quickly unfolded it and continued to silently sob. he gazed at the picture and began to wish richie was there with him to comfort him. eddie knew this was something stupid to be crying over, but he was tired and impatient...and missed richie. he hugged the picture close to his chest as he cried, trying to imagine that richie was there with him.
eddie had almost fallen asleep when he heard a light tapping on his window. he jumped up from his bed and ran over, throwing his window open. "bev is that you?" eddie whisper-yelled as he searched his front yard. "yeah im over here by your front door, let me in!" she whispered back shivering from the cold night breeze. eddie quietly shut his window and made his way over to his door, slowly turning the knob and slowly opening up the door just enough so his frail figure could slip through. he tip toed down the stairs, checking his surrounding making sure his mother wasn't in the living room or somewhere else close by. the coast was clear, but eddie continued to tip toe through the living room. he passed his moms's chair and the tv, and made it to his mom's stand that held various things...including nail polish. he stopped for a quick moment and looked at the different shades of pink she had set out. eddie really wanted to see what it looked like on his dainty hands, so he quickly took one without too much though, shoved it in his pajama pants pocket, and continued his quiet journey to the front door. he started undoing the locks by the door knob, and hoped his mother wouldn't wake up considering how loud the locks were being. he finally opened the door to reveal a very cold beverley with a small white container. "be very quiet." eddie whispered as he let beverley in. he shut the door, and slowly led her up to his room.
eddie quietly shut his door again and walked over to his bed, since bev had taken his desk chair. "let's get started." bev said in a hushed tone as she opened the container. eddie stuck out his hands revealing the smudged mess he had created. "jesus your a mess." bev giggled wiping the makeup off with ease. "this is so embarrassing..." eddie mumbled, trying his best to hold back his tears. "I think it's great." bev giggled again, making eddie even more upset. she looked up and saw eddie on the verge of tears. "oh im sorry eddie, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." bev apologized as she hugged her friend. eddie continued not to cry, even though he wanted to. he hugged his friend back for a few moments, remembering how warm and safe richie's hugs were, and how much he would like one right now. bev eventually gave eddie his own wipe so he could wipe off the makeup on his lips. he took the small mirror from his desk and used the moonlight to make sure he had removed it fully. with two swipes, it had been completely removed. "thank you so much bev.." eddie spoke putting the mirror back on his stand. "no problem, that's what friends are for." bev reassured with a smile.
"hey eds, what's that paper on your bed?" bev probed as she reached for eddie's drawing that he had clumsily left out. "nothing!" he replied quite loudly snatching the paper away from her and holding it behind his back. "oh come on, it can't be that bad." bev insisted. "id rather not share it.." "eddie it's me bev! im not going to tell a soul I promise, whatever it may be. hell, I came over and wiped lipstick off of you at three am on a friday night!" bev elaborated, trying her best to convince eddie to hand over his drawing. "do you promise not to make fun?" eddie questioned with a very serious look. "of course." eddie handed over his picture slowly, glimpsing at it one last time, before it was in bev's hands. "what is it?" she asked turning her head to get a different perspective. eddie turned the paper so she could see it for what it really is. "an eye? what's so embarrassing about this?" she probed as she enjoyed the drawing in front of her. "it's richie's eye..." eddie whispered almost inaudibly. "who's?" "richie's..." eddie replied a little louder taking his picture back. he folded it back up and slipped it under his pillow. "oh..well it's very nice." bev complimented, causing eddie to blush. "thanks.."
"hey eds, before I go, could I ask you something?" bev quizzed. eddie shot an alarming look over to bev, and hesitated to answer, "I guess.." eddie replied, scared for what was next. "do you think...by any chance...that you could...never mind.." "no it's fine ask me, you can't leave me hanging like that." eddie insisted sitting up on his bed. "have you ever thought that you might be...gay?" bev questioned, hoping that this wouldn't ruin their friendship. "...yeah..." eddie replied shamefully. "oh it's nothing to be ashamed of, I know not many people are accepting, but the losers will be, I know they will. well...I hope..." bev added holding her friends hands in reassurance. "bev, can I show you something?"
