The two were walking in the park, drinking there ice coffee. For the first time they had both felt comfortable. The teasing of course went on the entire time they were together. But they didn't mind. Their were a few times she did call him a jerk and the other times he would just look at her and shake his head saying, "Woman..."
Damian had already seen the line and Valarie knew it. He never crossed it and she never set herself up for it. The line just stayed there.
He wondered how she was so different. The way she talked to him...she wasn't sad. Even though she wouldn't show ow broken she was inside he already knew. That drunken girls don't lie. Maybe it was time to ask how that all started...
"When did you start drinking?" he asks just as she took another sip of her ice coffee.
Poking her tongue on the inside of her mouth she replied, "Fourteen." He gave her a look and she just laughed to shrug it off knowing he was mentally judging her. "I partied a lot. Like A LOT." she laughs. "My parents were always busy and my siblings were out doing the same."
"It's always been apart of you?"
"Yeah. The first time, Vincent had a couple friends over and I wanted to look cool so one of them dared me to drink a whole bottle of vodka."
"Did you do it?" Asks Damian
"Nope." Valarie laughed then licking her dry lips. "I took a huge gulp and ended up spitting it out because I choked."
"So you have been drinking since you were 14?" Asks Damian
"No. I went to boarding school the following year and it was brutal. My parents found out about the drugs and Virginia was tired of turning the blind eye and waiting in hospitals the times I did OD."
"Why did you do it?"
"The buzz was great and it helped me forget about the world for a while."
"How was boarding school?"
"Hell. My parents payed a lot of money for me to go there. They basically brainwash you, break you down until you're nothing but bones. The three weeks, they had strapped me to a bed and they starved you. They gave me soapy water twice a week and it was to "Cleanse the insides" . For people like me they called it the 'dry out'. When three weeks was over they gave me a meal and sent me to another room where other addicts were and the brain washing began."
"Wow. Did your parents know?"
"I'm sure they did but didn't care. It felt like a long time but it was only four months and I was back at home because of good behavior"
"And they do that to teens?"
"Yeah. That's why it's so pricey."
"Mmm." Damian nods as he takes a sip of his ice coffee.
"So...is there any way you can help me get in contact with your friend?" she asks
"What?" Damian asks looking at her in confusion
"Jason's girlfriend. She helped me and I think it's only fair that I pay her back." Says Valarie with a small grin. "And a good time for me to apologize not only to her but Jason to. I don't want any bad blood."
"Of course." Damian nods. we'll have dinner at the manor tomorrow but I can't promise you that Jack and Jason will attend."
Valarie gave Jason a look and shook her head a bit. "Why? Is it because of me?"
Damian scoffed and shook his head no and replied, "You are the last thing on their mind. They have other things to worry about."
"Like what?" she asks
"Nosy much?" Damian asks with a small chuckle.
Valarie shrugged as they kept on walking.
