Chapter 1

"Can you believe what the press is saying?" Valerie scoffs slamming the newspapers on the table and  folding her hands together.  "Capser, they don't think I can run the company and it's driving me insane!" She shouts  frustratedly.

The agnora let out a meow and hopped on the counter and walked around. Valerie sucked in her cheeks and stood up from the couch, making her way to the kitchen.

"This bites! And I hate it!" She says l, banging her fists on the table. Casper meows again and sits infront of her with his head tilted to the side. Valerie  huffs and covers her eyes with her hands.

"I am an Ellington. I know what I'm doing." She mumbles a few times.
Casper rubs against her arm and she takes another deep breath.

The press was talking about her again. Ever since the death of her family the press didn't take a break. Yesterday it was

Ellington and Adz hook up?

CEO Jace Adz of JA Tech claimed to have slept with her after their meeting last week. He claimed she forced herself on him and in efforts to convince him to take the deal and sign the contract.
The press has been on her back ever since and the image they already have of her is ruining her reputation. Some people are already quitting and giving her the side eye. 
Valarie thought ignoring the situation would help but it's only gotten worse.
"They don't have all the facts Cas..." She mutters heading towards the fridge for a water bottle. 

Capser hisses when a knock was heard at the front door. Valarie places the water bottle on the island and walks over to the door opening it.
A tall man with jet black hair and blue eyes stood before her. His jaw line was straight and his structure was muscular but not bulky. A suit covered his broad shoulders. Valarie recognized him but didn't know what to say to him.

"Valarie Ellington?" He asks, then holding out his hand to shake.

"Who's asking?" She replied moving closer to the door getting ready to close it.
"Bruce Wayne." He answers with a smile which made her feel a little at ease recognizing his face because of his name. She looked down at her robe seeing it was showing her cleavage. Valerie covered it up smoothly seeing it was kind of inappropriate for someone of his class to see.

"I met you at my mothers Benefit last year." Said Valarie looking up. " Please, come in." She says stepping aside allowing him to enter.
"Would you like something to drink? Water, tea or-"
"No, I'm fine thanks." Bruce said. Valarie bit her lip and sat on the couch as Bruce sat down too.

"What can I help you with Mr. Wayne?"

"I have a business proposition for you." he said leaning back.

"Oh? Is that so?" Valarie says. "What for?"

"I want to settle a partnership between our companies. I feel that they would work great together and would give the press something else to talk about." Bruce said.
Valerie sighed and put her hand on her face in frustration.

He thinks I slept with Adz.

"What the press said isn't true. What Jace said." she replied sternly. "I didn't sleep with him and I sure as hell never will."

"I never said I agreed with the Jace or the press." Bruce replied leaning forward.
Valarie folded her lips together in thought.
