Valarie was awake. She sat up with a smile as Damian came in.

"Hi." He said and she waved back at him.

"I know I look a mess. Hospital gowns are not-" She couldn't finish. Valarie was staring at his face. His green eyes that looked like they were tearing up. "Please don't cry." She whispers. "I don't need sadness right now."

"Right of course." He nods walking over to her. "I just...'' His finger tips stroked her cheek. "you look fine. You're OK." Damian nods

As she touched his hand and layed in it a bit, Valarie pulls back and shakes her head. "You shouldn't be here. Why are you here."

"Hey, relax." He tells her. "I know what you were trying to tell me. Talia can be"

"If you know, then we can't." Valarie said. "I can't. You and I...it can't happen Damian."

"Stop it." He tells her watching Valarie pull away from his touch. Her warmth feeling like a ghost. "I...I have developed really um...extremely strong feelings for you. And its weird for me. I never felt anything like this-"

"Please stop." Says Valarie, finding herself nearing his lips. "I really want to kiss you right now and I can't do that."

Damian smirked and pulled her closer to him once again. Valarie tried to pull away but his grip was stronger. "Let me hold you. Before you go I wanna hold you Valarie Ellington." He whispers as her head rests on his chest, his chin on top of her hair.

Inhaling his scent she wrapped her arms around him. "Just for a second." She said into his chest.

Valarie made sure to text Damian when she boarded the plane. It was more like her way of saying goodbye but just for a bit. It had been a couple weeks and Damian was devoted to helping Bruce with a new case they were working on and the occasional check up on Jacklyn.

"I'm fine. Besides the back pain and having the weakest bladder known to man, everything is fine" Jack said sounding sleepy. "Zatanna has been a big help despite Doctor Fate and her father's disapproval. And Don't even get me started on Constantine."

"Just say the word, I'll be in Iceland by sunrise tommorrow to ring his neck." Damian says through the phone

Surprised by her laugh she replied, "I can handle John. My mother's place is cloaked with Dark magic so we are all pretty safe." 

"That's good to hear." Damian said into the phone. "How are you both feeling though. I am genuinely concerned about the both of you."

"Damain, it's scary." She says slowly. "The process is scary for bothof us. But I know Jason will make a great dad."

"Get some rest." Damian said. "I'll call back later "

The two ended their call and Damian went down to the batcave.

They got a lead to where Garcia's mystery man was.

They were hiding in plain sight at Haleys Circus and tonight would be the day Bruce, Dick and Damian would meet them. Tim had to do a raincheck, him and Stephanie had a big night.

Hayleys Circus

The three watched the show in and were amazed. Damian kept glancing every couple minutes at Dick who looked displeased by the new lead act. The crowd loved it and Dick didn't appreciate all the attention the three were getting.

Maybe it was the fact Dick felt like he had seen them before.

Hayley came to the center stage with a smile. In a loud voice he shouts, "GIVE IT UP FOR THE GOLDEN GLYDERS!" The three landed at the same time in front of the crowd, bowing and waving.

The crowd cheered at the amazing act. Once they left the stage, Damian, Bruce and Dick stood to their feet and made their way back stage to meet face to face with the three.

Many performers were back stage getting ready and putting on make up. Some recognized Dick as he waved and smiled at them. He felt at home in the circus.

He remembered how much he missed it.
