Time froze as the huge wave approached. A scream escaped my lips as the wave crashed onto my body. I looked down, a huge brown stain ran down my white shirt. What a great way to start my Sunday morning.
"Vivian!" I yelped as the coffee began to burn my skin, "What the hell!"
Vivian chuckled, "Do I feel bad? Nope!"
I glared at her and groaned, "You're so lucky that you're my best friend, or you would be so dead right now."
"I know right!" she laughed, receiving another glare from me, "I mean, sorry, I didn't see your bag there, but it isn't my fault, who wears a white shirt to a place like this?"
I rolled my eyes, "You're lucky I have a spare shirt in my locker, for accidents like this," I said gesturing to the coffee stain, "I'll be back."
I got up from my seat and walked towards the corridors, where our lockers were situated. I skimmed through the lockers to my locker and mumbled the numbers 38, 16 and 8 to myself as I unlocked my lock. I stuck my hand inside my locker without glancing into the mess and pulled out a plain black tee. I quickly peeled my stained shirt off my body and slipped into the new one.
"Aaliyah!" Vivian called from the main room, "Fraser's calling!"
I smiled and quickly moved to the main room and snatched my phone out of Vivian's hands, receiving a smirk from her.
"Hello?" I chirped into the phone.
"Hey," Fraser said from the other side, "How are you?"
"I'm good, you?" I said, twirling my long black hair around my index finger.
"I'm good as well," he said, then cleared his throat, "So... there's a new case that we need you to take care of, and it's really important... it has to do with the Riverwells."
The name 'Riverwells' caught my attention and I stood straight, "What to do with them?"
"I sent you the file, you'll get what I mean when you get it," Fraser said flatly, "Well, I hope to see you soon, bye."
"Bye," I said, placing my phone on the table.
"So?" Vivian said in a sing-song voice, "When's the date?"
"We're not going on a date, Viv," I sighed, "I've got another case to handle."
Vivian's face fell, "Ugh, ever since you've been elected to be promoted to Rank 10, they haven't given you a chance to breathe!"
"Well, if I want to be being part of 10 it will come with its consequences," I countered.
"I guess," Vivian said quietly, wrinkling her nose, "Well good luck, I'll see you after my meeting, okay?"
"Yup," I waved, "Have fun."
...
"Hello, I have a file waiting for Aaliyah Sharpe, I'm here to collect it," I said to the lady at the counter.
