It was now lunch, and it was awkward as shit.

Aidan, Zayn and Brent were talking amongst themselves and Josh and I were eating our lunch in awkward silence. I could tell that the guys had noticed the shift in mood between Josh and I, but decided to say nothing.

"So," Brent said, dramatically loud for the both of us, "How has your day been?"

"That's such a grandpa question to ask," Josh said, rolling his eyes.

"Well, I'm sorry that I'm trying to initiate a conversation when the two of you are just side glancing at one another every three seconds!" Brent exclaimed, throwing his hands into the air, "What the hell ever happened that you both can't talk?"

"Ask Josh!" I said, "He's the one who decided to kiss me in front of the entire class!"

Brent looked at me wide-mouthed, Zayn spat out his water and Aidan choked on his pasta.

"Oh come on!" Josh said in exasperation, "You don't need to exaggerate it that much! It was a peck on the cheek and you liked it!"

"I did not fucking like it!" I growled, "We could have just kissed on the cheek like normal people who get forced to kiss but you just had to pretend that we actually kissed!"

"Anyone would be honoured to kiss me, you're lucky that all the people in the class think that you got one of my world-class smooches," Josh shrugged.

My shoulder slumped and I folded my arms across my chest, frowning.

"Josh, cut it," Brent said, "Raven, it's not a big deal."

"I bet she's on her time of the mouth," Josh snorted, "Her hormones are going coo-coo."

He used his index finger to draw circles on his temple to exaggerate his stupid and incorrect statement.

"I don't know much about how the mind of a girl works, but I'm pretty sure you're never meant to say that," Aidan said, popping a straw into his juice box.

I smiled a satisfied smile at Josh and he rolled his eyes in return.

"Fine," he said, "I have a business to take care of."

"What business?" Zayn asked.

"Can't you hear?" Josh smirked, "The band's playing again."

...

I walked out of my last class, Science completely exhausted. We had a practical in class that we were getting assessed on. As the last year at high school, this year was extremely important for year 12's, as what they did this year pretty much decided if they went to university or not. Sucks to be them.

"I completely failed that," Brent said from beside me, running his hands through his hair out of anxiety, "Now I'm going to be working at Kmart for a living."

I rolled my eyes. Brent was a prime example of someone who always worried about failing and walking out of the class with 99%, "You definitely did not fail, Brent, it wasn't that hard and you're ahead of the class."

"What if I forgot something? Oh my god, what if I read the question wrong? What if the teacher can't read my handwriting and gives me a-"

"Brent!" I scowled, "If you get any less than 95% I'll pay you fifty dollars."

Brent looked at me uncertainly, "You'll have to pay me more than that if I fail this and can't go to uni, I'll be poor."

I rolled my eyes, "Whatever you say."

Brent let out a small laugh, "Well, I have to go, Aidan's waiting in the car park, I'll see you tomorrow?"

I nodded, "Bye!"
