Two hundred and sixteen deaths. Three hundred casualties. An overall loss of $2.1 million.
All from one bomb, delivered from my people.
I knew I couldn't jump to conclusions without knowing what had exactly happened, but I was one-hundred per cent biased. It wasn't like us to do something like this, to kill hundreds of people for no reason. There had to be something that caused this.
I knew one thing though, we weren't strong enough to attack. We didn't have enough trained soldiers or good weapons. Our team wasn't as advanced and we definitely didn't have the supplies to provoke war. So I didn't understand why we would. Was Fraser testing to see how far they could go? Kidnapping a recruit and bombing a building are two very different things...
"Raven? Raven!" A voice called, my body shaking from a force, "Are you listening to me?"
"Huh?" I looked up at Josh's face, "Yeah, sorry, zoned out."
"We don't have time for you to zone out," Aidan rolled his eyes, "We need to train you, fast."
"Carlo thinks that you need to be part of this," Brent informed me, probably judging from my clueless expression, "He thinks that this is a good chance to test your loyalty, and because of such a large scale attack, we need everyone to work together right now."
"What are we going to do?" I muttered nervously, knowing that whatever they would say would be fed into my Headquarters.
"Well," Zayn crossed his arms, "They're most likely expecting us to attack back, so Carlo wants us to wait, and then we can decide what we do from there."
"What do you mean, you decide?" I creased my forehead, "Are the Vanteria not leading this?"
"No," Zayn answered, "Remember what I said earlier? They don't chip in unless it's absolutely crucial, they get someone else to do it, they just guide us."
"This isn't crucial to them?" I frowned angrily, not because I was pissed about the fact that this wasn't important to them, but because it was ruining my plan. If we had decided to bomb the building, then this would be our chance to attack, if that was what Fraser was trying to do, for whatever reason. I knew how his mind worked, and he was most likely doing this so that the frenzy would be big enough for the Head of the Riverwells to have to deal with this, and once they did, we would start destroying from the root of the problem.
Fraser was trying to kill the Vanteria.
"Of course it's crucial," Brent replied, "But we've got enough soldiers and supplies to take care of this. They killed our people, but they've done much worse before. As heartless as it sounds, this is nothing compared to what they've done in the past. However, considering that it's been long since an attack like this from either side, it will still provoke war."
"So that's it," I threw my hands in the air, "They're just going to sit on their thrones and let people die?"
"I wouldn't exactly call them thrones, Miss Sharpe."
I turned around, hoping the voice wasn't of someone that wasn't meant to hear this.
"Ajax," I said sternly, slightly worried about how much he'd heard.
"Just to clarify," He rolled his eyes, "We're still ordering this mission, we're not just standing on the sidelines with a bag of popcorn to share."
"It sure doesn't seem like it," I rolled my eyes in return.
Ajax chuckled unexpectedly, "I apologise if it came across like that. However, I came here to wish you luck on your first mission. Through our guidance, and the guys helping you out, we're sure you're going to do just fine."
