"What're you doing here?" He asked, pulling away from me and pulling his black ski mask off.
I was appalled. The Riverwell that I had been looking for the last few months had been in front of me the entire time.
"Raven?" He said, more gently.
"I-I was walking around the neighbourhood and got lost," I said quickly, not wanting him to know what I was really doing here.
"You need to get out of here," He said quickly, pushing his handgun into the back of his black jeans.
"Wait," I said, making him raise an eyebrow at me as he pushed his bangs out of his face, "What's going on."
"I'll explain later," He said, pulling his mask over his head again, "Right now, you need to leave, I'll get Zayn to take you."
"Zayn's part of this too?!" I exclaimed.
Aidan rolled his eyes, "Raven, we all are."
Utterly shocked, but not showing it, I followed Aidan down the alley. Whenever someone would walk past he pushed me back into the wall and pulled his gun out, acting as though he was on patrol.
When we reached the main fight zone, Aidan told me to hide under one of the gaps in the concrete, which I had gotten pretty familiar to in the minimal amount of time I had been here. He looked at me once more before walking away. I suddenly dawned on me that I still had my gun on me. I pulled it out of its spot and threw it on the ground, kicking some sand over it. If they saw me with this, they would definitely know what I was here for.
I looked back to Aidan was jogging over to the fight zone, careful not to get in the way of the fire, and pulled someone by the arm towards the back of the Riverwell side, probably Zayn. The person he was talking to was clearly taken aback, but then he looked into my direction and began jogging over, leaving Aidan with the Riverwells, who resumed fighting again.
"Hey," Zayn said quietly, as I moved further into the gap, "It's okay, let's get out of here."
"What's going on?" I said quietly, putting on my best innocent act.
"We'll explain soon, the fight is almost over," Zayn informed me, meaning that the Shadows were almost finished, "I need to take you home."
I nodded and Zayn gripped onto my elbow, helping me out of the gap. I brushed myself down and began walking away with Zayn, who wasn't walking as carefully as Aidan. Within minutes we were out of the area.
"How did you get here?" Zayn asked, taking his leather jacket off and pushing it into a small, black backpack.
"Vivian dropped me," I lied.
"Okay," Zayn nodded, "We'll take my car, the others can come with Aidan."
I nodded in and began walking alongside Zayn to his car. He had parked his car quite close to the venue, and within a few minutes, we were there. Zayn typed an address into his phone and started the navigation, and within minutes we were out of the area.
"Why'd you come here?" Zayn asked as he steered through the empty streets.
"I was bored," I replied, "So I went shopping and then decided to walk around the area, and got lost."
"Bad timing," Zayn laughed lightly, "I'm sorry you had to see all that."
"It's alright," I gulped, I was trained to lie but this was going a little too far.
Zayn nodded and continued driving through the streets, following the navigation on his phone, and soon we arrived at the destination.
In front of us was a large mansion, bigger and more elegant than the one Vivian and I were staying in. A street lined with beautiful frangipani trees looming over, leading into the front of the house, where Zayn parked his car. When we got outside, I looked around, yellow lights reflected on the golden colour of the house, giving it an elegant glow. The house was made of yellow-gold stone and many of the walls were lined with glass, off of which the sun reflected blurred rainbows.
