"I'm going to Brent's," A voice pierced through the peace that my mind had created.
I winced at the sound, it was vexatious. The black silence that covered my senses had become serene, and I wanted nothing to destroy it. I hadn't had peace in so long, I felt like I was floating.
"Okay," I couldn't tell if this voice was someone else's, they all sounded the same to me, the same annoyingness, "Take your time, you guys need to rest."
"So do you, you've been next to her for two days," Again with the voices, I was starting to get agitated, and why did my leg hurt all of a sudden?
"I'll sleep, you go."
I waited for the voice to sound again, but all I heard was a soft door close, silence following. I waited for the serenity to come back, the peaceful waves of silence that followed one after another, the calm black that covered everything in front of me, blocking me from the outside world.
But it didn't.
My eyes involuntarily fluttered open, and I flinched at the light. The curtains were drawn, the light was off, but despite all the covering, it still wasn't as shaded as the black that had enclosed me.
"Raven?" The same voice that had been talking before called, this time I could distinguish who it was.
"Aidan..." I mumbled, pushing up from the bed.
I flinched from the sudden pain that erupted on the lower half of my body. Soon after, just like the burning, the memories flooded through. I recalled the meeting with the Vanteria. Carlo, Ajax, Alec.
Alec, the one I fought with, the one who stabbed me. The one who lost the fight.
"Hey, relax," Aidan whispered, pushing me back into the bed gently.
Speaking of bed, I was in an unfamiliar one. I looked at my surroundings, the fancy chandelier, the expensive-looking but minimalist decor, and the sudden realisation that I was in Aidan's room hit me.
"Why am I here? What happened?"
"I hope you remember the fight," Aidan chuckled lightly, "That was epic."
"I do," I cringed, "But why am I here?"
"You fainted after the Vanteria left," He shrugged, "Loss of blood, a slight concussion, so I had to bring you here, and get my personal doctor to fix you up, going to the hospital would raise suspicion."
I nodded, not knowing how to reply to that, "How long have I been out? Am I not meant to be going to see them today?"
"Two days," Aidan replied, "You woke up yesterday, screaming, so the doctor said that it was better to give you some sedatives, and you just woke up."
I pulled the covers off my torso and noticed the bandage that covered most of my right thigh. A spot of red was starting to seep through the covers, but not enough to stain anything else. Someone had also changed my clothes, which made me uncomfortable, but I wasn't going to make it worse by asking.
I sighed, frustrated at my clumsiness during the fight, "So they decided against taking me in? Punctuality counts towards it, right?"
"No, actually, they want to see you again, when you're better."
I furrowed my brows in confusion, then smiled, "That's nice of them."
Aidan smiled, saying nothing back. And that's when I finally took in his appearance. He looked tired. Bags had started to appear under his eyes, and his hair was ruffed up. His blue eyes exuded tiredness rather than the usual confidence, and his skin looked paler than usual.
