suggested by SugaInfiresJams. Thank you. It's not very well written, and I'm sorry about that. And, it's also short, I'm sorry.

Thank you for 26K reads, it really means a lot to me.

"Listen to me," Ryan slurred, his eyes heavy and his voice quick and rushed, "You need to be sad more."

Shane scoffed, immediately raising an eyebrow at the man in front of him. Taking a sip of his beer, he replied, "What are you talking about? I'm-"

"You're always so fucking cheerful. It annoys me."

Shane processed this for a minute, his eyes scrunched up and his mind floating everywhere. It was no one wonder Ryan was drunk on his second drink, the achocol that they had chosen was strong and it was almost like they needed to drain their thoughts down to the gutter. And they did.

"You're drunk, Ryan."

The man only smiled at this, taking another sip of the beer that he held so protectively in his hand. "Shane," he started, his grip on the glass loosened a little bit, "I'm gay."

Even at the nine in the evening the bar seemed to be full of people, planning to get wasted to forget everything they'd ever known. Some men were yelling at the television screen for their favourite football team to do better and some men were picking fights with strangers that somehow pushed the wrong buttons. In other words, the room was loud enough for Shane not to hear what Ryan had said.

"What? I didn't quite catch-"

"I'm gay." Ryan shouted, proudly. His hands lifted itself into the air, and soon the shouting stopped. "I'm gay, everybody."

Men were looking at the pair now, their fists tightening and their anger raging. "What did you say?" one person said, breaking the silence that grew all over the bar.

"I'm gay." Ryan repeated once again, his speech slurred and his eyes cried out. "But I'm also drunk, so I don't think I'm going to remember this."

"I'll give you something to remember." The man had said angrily, walking over to the pair.

Shane stood in front of Ryan, protectively, "No, sir. He was joking. Weren't you, Ry?"

Ryan shook his head. "No."

"Okay, we're out of here!" Shane quickly dragged his best friend out the place, running to a nearby place where they could hide.

They did find a place, a hill, to hide from the mob that wasn't as accepting as Shane thought they'd be. The two sat down, adrenaline still in them. It was a quiet place, one that Shane and Ryan spent most of their childhood playing. It was their special place, their 'happy place.'

"Why didn't you tell me?" Shane asked, breaking the silence between them. He kept his eyes at the sky, watching as each clouds turn to darkness. Probably just like his life.

Ryan didn't answer straight away. The boy was drunk. Shane didn't blame him for wanting to wash away the thoughts.

"Society. People. My family wouldn't have liked the way I am now and you know th-"

"I know. But I'm me. I'm your best friend. I thought we told each other everything."

"We do. But I was scared, Shane, don't you get it? The society that we live in right now, social media, even people, have led everybody to believe that being gay was a bad thing." Ryan replied, his eyes burning with tears, "I thought you thought the same thing. So I didn't tell you."

Shane let the silence drag through again, trying to clear his head. "Everybody's free to love, Ry. Look-"

"If you hate me, at least tell me now. Please. Don't leave me on my own. Just tell me and I'll-"

Shane leaned forward and intertwined his lips with Ryan's, creating a firework effect in both of their minds. It felt right, like they were coming home. And they both knew they'd happy.

After a while, they broke the kiss, gasphing for air. "Love is love."

"Love is love." Ryan repeated, giggling, planting tiny kisses.

Shane smiled, "I love you."
