Sunrise with him was filled with conversations that never seemed to end, and Shane wondered if it would always be like that, because honestly, it was nice. They didn't seem to mind the cold breeze that grazed upon their skin, and they watched in awe as the sun began to shine across the land. t
The sky was suddenly painted with different shades of pastel, and his eyes wondered to the man sat beside him, memorizing the features of his face as if it was going to be the last time he'll ever see him and the thought frightened him a little; he couldn't imagine his life without Ryan. But he here was, alone.
Sunrise with him was quiet, and there was a time when shane felt most comfortable. And he still was. The thoughts that flickered through his mind seemed to move along to the beat of his heart. Shades of oranges and red blended together in perfect harmony, and his mind replayed the memory of when he was happy with his lover by his side, laughing along at what the other person said. It was a time of happiness. A time of joy. A time when shane felt most free, but now it was as though he was trapped in a world he didn't want to be in, the walls closing towards him with every thought that he thought. It was suffocating him, and he hated it.
Shane was familiar with the feeling of lonliness. It was something he felt when ryan was yet to be in his life. There was a once a time when shane sat alone on his table, minding only his business, shutting down every person that seemed to block his way. He always felt the hole in his heart had grown deeper and deeper with every rejection he held for the people who cared about him, but as soon as he laid eyes on the new boy, he felt a little strange.
Sunrise with him was filled with laughters, one that you could tell was real. The joyous sound that echoed throughout the area that they considered theirs would feel like he was coming home. It didn't surprise shane how much he missed hearing ryan's laugh. The smile that never seemed to disappear, and the way his eyes crinkled. The way his hands fit perfectly in his, like puzzles coming together.
Sunrise with him was dancing as the sky transformed into the beautiful masterpiece they knew. The way shane's hand tightly placed on ryan's waist and the younger man had his arms wrapped around his lover's. His mind replayed the memory of them first getting together, both of them unsure and awkward about their feelings for one another. It took a while, but the pair was glad that they found love in each other. Their lonely world being erased from memory.
"Promise me you'll never leave me?" Shane had once said, holding out his pinky for Ryan. "Promise we'll always be friends."
Ryan chuckled at the giant, rolling his eyes as he connected his pinky with his. "I promise, Shay."
"I thought I told you to never call me that name."
"Well, I guess I'm calling you that now."
Sunrise with him was first kisses. Their lips connecting with one another as they laid upon the grass that tickled their skin, sparks enlightening themselves in their brains, craving more and more. It was strange as first, but both felt that this was meant to happen, it was as though fate had bought them together, to meet, to become friends. With thoughts circling their minds and hearts quickening in pace, they broke apart, their foreheads resting against each other and they regained their breathes. Chuckling, Ryan pressed one last kiss upon his lips, and a shade of red tint visibly wearing on shane's cheeks.
Sunrise with him was filled with tears, Ryan's eyes red with tears as they slowly escaped, the corners of his mouth quivering with fear, the palms of his hand sweating as worry overcomes him. Shane vividly remembered the day when Ryan told him everything, his chest tightening at the memory.
"Ryan, you're quiet today. What's wrong?" Shane had asked, placing his hands over his lover's shaking hand.
The younger boy focused on the sun that began to rise over the horizon, but tears were visibly streaming down the orange tinted face.
"Ryan?"
"Shane, I-" he began, "I-I'm dying."
"What?"
"I'm dying, and I'm so scared."
Tears began to form in his eyes, but he was quick to wipe them away, not letting the clear substance escape. It's been three years, he should be over it by now, but it difficult to move on. Not when he loved Ryan too much. Shane focused on the sky that the colour blue, and he cursed at himself as his mind captured an image of his dead lover's features.
"Stop it, Shane." he whispered, "It's over. Stop."
Sunrise with him was always going to be Shane's favourite memory, it was always going to be burned at the back of his mind. It was something that he could never forget. Shane got up, and saw that that the sun has risen. The corners of his lips curved upwards, and his eyes looked up at the clear blue sky.
"You once promised me forever. Don't you ever leave me, Bergara."
