Time.
It was the most precious thing anyone could ever ask for. But instead they waste it, doing things they'll regret for the rest of their lives. As for Shane, the most regretful thing he's ever done was falling in love.
Yes, I know what you're thinking, how could falling in love be something you'd regret? To answer that question, Shane had a task; he woke up with a bomb planted into his head, not knowing how it ended up there, and his task was to fall in love by midnight. If he didn't, then it's a goodbye to Shane Madej.
Obviously Shane thought he couldn't achieve this impossible task, as he wasn't the type of man to fall in love. He thought no one in the world could fall in love with him, but as soon as he's met with wide brown eyes, this could be his chance. Could this be fate?
He had picked up a blue iris from the soil it was growing from, and hastily walked to the man he had saw. With the plant his hand waving to the breeze of the wind, he gazed at the man once more. The man had a sort of long face and his lips were cherry red. In other words, he was beautiful. More beautiful than Shane had ever imagined.
Handing the flower to the shorter man, his lips curved slightly. Both of the two could feel the heat on their cheek risen and so their eyes hadn't met yet.
Ryan grabbed Shane's hand and dragged him almost forcefully inside the cinema, where they sat in an empty room as the movie played along infront of them. Shane looked behind him and sighed sorrowly, as he was running out of time. He stared at this wrist watch that clearly read 8:33 P.M. Sweat began to build up along his temples and his heart stated to beat rapidly like a wild animal trying to escape. It wasn't good.
He felt a slight nudge and quickly turned to look at the boy, who pointed to the black screen that was infront of them. Shane felt himself calm and the heavy weights of pressure removed altogether away from his shoulders. He was amazed how the touch of a stranger could relax his nerves. He was feeling all sorts of things, like a millions of butterfly floating around freely inside of his stomach.
The movie was starting and Shane promised Ryan he would pay attention. So, he did. He saw how this two characters fell in love. He saw sparks shooting around like fireworks between them, and it had occurred to Shane that these characters did indeed belong to each other. Then, he asked himself a question that was even harder to answer:
Did he belong to Ryan?
Could these two men be soulmates?
Was this meant to happen?
With such little time left, Shane started to panic, and looked over at the younger man. Everything was just perfect about him, and Shane did agree. He saw how his brown eyes opened happily, how his lips curved into a shy smile, how his hair was gelled to the side like a wave, and it did suit him. He saw himself falling harder and harder for this man.

They were in a restaurant now, and their ordered food just came in time.
Shane smiled, to which Ryan smiled back. The two ate in silence, occasionally making contact with one another. Cutting up his meat, he lifted his head to look at Ryan once more. Ryan's lips curved sadly, and his eyes frowned. The taller man then had an idea, he sliced a perfect circle and an arch into the meat and went over to show Ryan. The raven haired boy chuckled fondly and wiped the corner of Shane's mouth to clean away the pieces of food that stuck onto his lips.
After the two was done, they went to sit on the bench outside. It was getting close to midnight, but Shane's worries faded away as soon as both of them talked about everything and anything. Shane learned more about Ryan than he's ever gotten to know anyone before. He learned that Ryan was born to a posh, rich family. He learned that he was educated in a boarding school that he hated so much. He learned that he has gotten his heart broken before by a man, who didn't love him back.
As time went on, it was already 11:56 p.m. And, Shane leaned forward thinking this was his only chance to live. This could be his happy ending.
Ryan was hesitant to lean in, too, but he closed his eyes and leaned in closer to Shane.
Time chimed, and it was midnight.
Ryan's head spluttered with blood, to Shane's surprise. He opened his eyes, and his heart was beating rapidly inside his chest. He couldn't move, because any sudden movement would make him panic.
Shane didn't understand. Did Ryan not love him back? Was he not good enough?
Time.
It was the most precious thing anyone could ever ask for, and this was the story of how Shane finally fell in love but was too late.
