QOC: Idk if I've asked this, but what's your favorite type of weather? 🌧

Humans are so strange. We can go from being this introverted, anti-social,
emotionally-guarded little bean, to a smiling, laughing, warm bean. We're just a bunch of beans unsure of where to go.

That goes for me right now. It's day four of this trip, and I've already become comfortable in this family (apart from Mr. Ryhawks because he's kinda creepy).

Mrs. Ryhawks, who's now asked me to cal her Lilianne, her first name, is super kind and generous. I guess when we first met during dinner, she had some work to catch up on before taking off to Tahiti, which is understandable if the work was just piled on top of her. So my first impression of her was jacked up, much to her dismay. But now, she's really cool.

I still haven't told the parents that I'm homeless, which I'm sure would change the whole atmosphere, so I decided against telling them at all. It's not really any of their business anyway, and I surprisingly trust Cameron, Kassidy, and (yes) Kason.

Because he's been acting weird lately too. Whenever it's just him and I, he's been his real self. He smiles and laughs and, to my annoyance, teases me an ass ton. But that's his real personality, which I'm grateful to see. Still, the conversation we had back at his house the night before we left is left strung out in the air.

Anyway, none of that is what's weird. It's how quickly his mood changes around his father. For example, him and I were actually having fun in the kitchen. I was mixing batter to make cupcakes with the stuff Kass and I got from a tiny island shack. It got pretty messy when Kason and I started flinging it all over each other, but it was fun regardless.

But as soon as Mr. Ryhawks walked in, Kason's angry and blank face was back on. And his father stared back at him with this narrowed-eyed, pissed-off expression. It was extremely awkward for me to be standing there until Kason grabbed my wrist and dragged me out of there. He wasn't really the same for the rest of the day.

And that was two days ago, so I guess he's alright now. I guess it's just always an eggshell walkway around him. And, that honestly sucks. No one wants to set off the ticking time bomb when we only have so much time to use here.

Today we all decided that we'd head out to Mont Orohena to go hiking. I did a little research, because my curiosity got the best of me. Plus, I'd like to know what the heck Mont Orohena and where the Mont Orohena is, because I've never seen or heard of it.

So apparently it's the highest point in the French Polynesia, standing at two thousand two hundred forty-one meters above sea level. It's an extinct volcano, which sort of freaks me out, but I seriously doubt any explosion would occur if it's extinct. So I can brush that off.

It's a pretty long hike, so we leave the beach houses at eight in the morning to get to the middle sometime in the afternoon. We will have an instructor with us, as March is probably the coldest and wettest time to hike the "O Belevedere" trail. It's extremely dangerous, but this was also Kassidy's idea. She asked me to record so she can give it to her boss, who will then clear her for her "threatening dangers situation training" test. She said it's her last physical test before she has to move on to the brainier part of things. And considering her intelligence and the fact that she graduated her sophomore year, I doubt that'll be difficult for her.
