It took Deya few seconds to realise what exactly is happening, but to her surprise, she found herself kissing Dylan back. That is, until a raucous noise from the earpiece made her snap out of it and pull away. At first, the sound startled her as it resembled a human growl, but she internally slapped herself for the assumption. It's clear it had to be some sort of electric distortion.
Trying to catch her breath, she glanced to the Smiths who were watching them with a smile.
"Honey, we don't want to make our company uncomfortable" She was proud of how effortlessly the excuse came. If only it was that easy to hide her flushed cheeks and furious heartbeat.
What the hell is he doing to me?
"Oh, nonsense," Evelyn waved her hand dismissively. "It's always nice to see young love."
Love. Are we that good in pretending? Evelyn's eyes held such an adoring look when she looked at the couple.
They said their goodbyes, the man shaking hands in a business fashion while the ladies shared a long hug. Deya couldn't stop thinking about how much fun she actually had tonight - if you ignore Dylan's escapades. But that was all just a part of the disguise, right?
Placing his hand on Deya's lower back, her temporary husband led her our of the restaurant, letting the hand slide a little lower after few steps.
However, once she was sure they can no longer see them, Deya wriggled out of his hold. Her head was already spinning from all the wine, and his seemingly innocent touches only made things worse.
Letting out an amused chuckle, Dylan grabbed her wrist and pull her into his muscled chest.
"Come on, don't tell me the kiss did nothing for you." She just wished there was a way to wipe the smug smirk out of his face, even though he was technically right. For some reason, the kiss did get to her.
"In your dreams" She tried to sound bitterly, but instantly scolded herself for the choice of words. Are you a five-year-old?
"Trust me, Angel" His voice was suddenly low and unusually deep. "The things I do to you in my dreams are beyond your imagination"
His otherwise bright blue orbs darkened with lust when he said that, and Deya couldn't help but shiver as a wave of arousal hit her.
For a few seconds, there was silence. However, once she saw him lean closer, her eyes automatically closed in anticipation. Except the kiss never followed. Instead, Dylan chuckled slightly as his arm rested around her waist.
"Seems like my charms are not lost on you after all" As suddenly as they appeared, his arms were gone and Deya struggled to straighten herself.
How could I fall for that?
She took a few unsure steps - her knees nearly buckling under her - before recomposing herself and following Dylan out of the restaurant. The limo was still there, however, imagine her surprise when she got in only to be met with the coldness of Max's stare.
She had no idea what he's doing here, but she didn't even bother trying to find out. Instead, she made sure to choose the seat that was farthest from him and keep her eyes glued to the window.
Oblivious to the tension in the air, Dylan started to talk with the devil. He made sure to praise Deya for how she managed to mesmerise Evelyn, but her eyes remained on the scenery outside. After recounting the events of the evening, Max spoke for the first time, asking what day they set for the money transfer and software installation. Nonetheless, his eyes never left the girl's face.
