"..potom on skhvatil menya a potseloval menya.." ('And then he grabbed me and kissed me') Victoria told Darya and watched her wrinkled face light up with a shy smile.
"Ocharovatelnyy Muzschina" ('A charming man') Her old tutor replied dreamily before getting lost in her own thoughts.
The memory of the devil's lips pressed against hers has haunted Victoria for the past two days, driving her closer to the edge of insanity. That's why, when she arrived to her usual lecture and the Russian asked about her date - yes, that's what she thought the lessons are for - something inside her broke and untangled her tongue.
Obviously, she had to leave out all the gang stuff and most of her history with Max, but it felt liberating nonetheless. Looking at the old lady's genuine happiness, she almost wished this truly was the love story her words pictured it to be.
"Pozhaluyste... Kogda ty yego uvidish snova?" ('Sorry... When will you see him again?') Darya continued after a pause and excitedly squeezed the girl's hand.
"Ne znayu" ('I don't know') Victoria's lips curved into a disappointed frown. "On skazal, chto on pokidayet stranu na paru dney" ('He said he's leaving the country for a couple of days')
"Oh, kanikuly?" ('Holidays?')
"Poseshcheniye u druga" ('Visiting a friend') Victoria said with a small smile, her mind instantly returning to the memory.
It surprised her that Max had friends, let alone outside his gang and outside England. Unfortunately, he was also hesitant about giving her any more details.
"I know you don't have a phone, but if you can find a way to contact me..." His lips were still puffed from making out as he reached into his pocket and offered her a business card. "Please, do"
Her trembling fingers hesitantly took it and she gave it a curious once over.
"Why do you have a card with your first name and phone number only?" Her brow furrowed in confusion.
"Because that's all anyone needs to know" The devil shot her a cheeky smile, but it wasn't met with acceptance.
"Well, Maximón," Victoria read the card in a bored tone."Let me tell you, It's not my custom to date strangers"
"But you have no problem kissing them?" The man blurted out, instant regret written all over his face.
Victoria's body body froze for a second. Was he right? Technically, yes. But was it necessary? Hell no.
"Bye" She turned around and aimed for exit, leaving the devil's stunned frame behind.
"Wait..." She was already good few meters away when his footsteps started to catch up but decided to ignore his calls and speed up.
"Just.. Give us a fucking chance to get to know each other!" The man stopped her abruptly and yelled into her face, and let's just say that wasn't something Victoria appreciated.
"You know what? Alright!" Her stance was wide, chin defiantly pointed upwards, and eyes much like two burning fire pits."Why don't you start by telling me what you do for living, huh?"
A silence fell over the couple, interrupted only by Max's heavy breathing as he realized she backed him into a corner.
Victoria couldn't suppress a satisfied smirk. "Who were all the men in the restaurant? And why have you ignored me for them?"
