The girl nervously paced across her room. Once the men loaded Gabriel into the van, Max drove back to their hotel and ordered her to pack her stuff ASAP. Three hours later, the jet was already landing on the same airport they originally took off from, an extra passenger on board.
As usually, the devil said nothing as to why he kidnapped him or what his intentions are. Nonetheless, it was obvious it's nothing honourable.
Gabriel's body was dragged into the basement the moment they entered the house, and she was ordered to stay in her room for the night. A part of her kept exhorting her to disobey, but after what happened with Thomas, she was too afraid of what might be waiting in the basement this time.
Perhaps Max was right. Maybe I am too fragile to see the cruel things they do.
With each step, her bare feet landed on the floor exuding an audible smack, and the more infuriated she was, the louder they got.
That's why it took her around five minutes before her ears caught the familiar noise of gravel hitting her window.
Instantly, her movement seized.
It's Sunday.
Over the eventful weekend in Prague, she completely forgot she's supposed to meet Hunter.
Her tiny frame scurried towards the window before carefully opening it and leaning out. In that moment, she nearly head butted the figure climbing up towards her, the shock making her jump away from the window only to land on her arse with an audible gasp.
Just as she was about to scream for help, Hunter climbed in through the window frame wearing a boyish grin.
"You asshole!" She threw him a death glare and lifted herself of off the floor, but the man just laughed it off.
"I didn't mean to scare you." He attempted to apologise, but his amusement was obvious. "You missed our meeting and I saw your lights are on"
Her eyes were observing every of his moves cautiously as if looking for possible hidden intentions. After all, it's not every day that an intruder sneaks in through her window.
"Sorry" She murmured finally and her stance relaxed a little. "I'm just stressed out by everything."
It felt relieving to admit it to someone.
"What happened?" Hunter shot her a concerned look before unexpectedly pulling her into a hug. Her body instantly tensed again. It felt strange to be in the arms of a man she knew so little, but she didn't push him away.
Perhaps it's exactly what I need..
"It's more about everything that's yet about to happen" She murmured into his sweatshirt and wrapped her arms around him. He smelled of coffee and a woody cologne, the combination pleasantly tickling her senses.
"What is that?" His confusion was getting tangible, but she didn't want to drag him into all the mess surrounding her.
"I don't know.." She whispered truthfully. "I just have this feeling something bad is about to go down."
Hunter pulled her away from his body before giving her a serious look, and it seemed to surprise the girl as her eyes widened. "Are you in danger, baby girl?"
She watched his expression turn into one of fright when she shrugged her shoulders.
"Who knows." She sighed without meeting his gaze.
In periphery, she could see him furiously ran his fingers through his hair a few times as he paced the room in the way she did mere minutes ago.
She could feel his gaze on her every once in a while, but she didn't get a chance to talk before they heard a clamour out of the hall. Instantly, they both froze in fear, before the girl snapped out of it and urged him to hide under the bed.
