The days that followed took Victoria off guard, given the intensity of her usual "transformational" schedule nearly doubled. Then again, the information she discovered about Maximón significantly helped her power through the exhaustion and pain.
Whatever I have to do to get you, my dear.
Although Connor hasn't said so, she sensed 'the day' is coming soon, and just the thought filled her tummy with thousands of butterflies.
On the dark side, her deceased russian tutor was replaced by an old lady with mustache and glare that could kill, but she stopped complaining once she noticed the progress they made. As of now, her accent was bulletproof, and although her vocabulary and grammar could use more work, it hardly mattered unless she encountered a native Russian interested in more than a fling.
When, after one of the sessions, Samael escorted her to Connor's office instead of her bedroom, she could feel her heartbeat instantly fasten.
This is it?
Her mind played all the scenarios of how she could possibly take the devil down, which explains the ecstatic grin she wore when the muscular hands pushed her through the door.
"Sit down" Connor ordered before she had a chance to blink, and for once she obeyed, too eager to get the good news.
"It's time we had a talk again," He announced formally and it was then that she realized he hasn't spoken to her since the fiasco in his bedroom.
Was he avoiding me? To be honest, she didn't even mind. It meant that he hasn't discovered the condom robbery yet, and neither does he know she saw the photo.
"It's been over a month since you came here," He noted and Victoria found herself surprised at how fast the time flew by. If what he said is true, then it's more than two months since she's left the Bulldogs.
Is it possible?
Given all the excitements life put in her way, she's been too busy to even think about them.
"You're bruises are hardly visible, and the progress you made with this charade speaks for itself" The boss continued while pointing to her, and she could nearly hear the desired words coming out of his mouth.
"I think it's time we put you to the final test and see if we can initiate the first stage of our plan." The girl's head was mid-nod, ready to jump in joy, when the words registered and her brow furrowed.
Final test?
Somehow, it felt offensive that he dared to doubt her capabilities.
"What test?" Victoria's accent became thicker, revealing her growing irritation.
"The one that shows me you won't fuck up before it even started" Connor uttered bitterly and earned himself an eye roll.
As if she wasn't equally motivated to make the mission succeed.
"What even is 'the plan'?" She tried to change the topic just to make his smug smirk disappear, but somehow it persisted.
"Oh, that's simple. We'll make sure your persona starts randomly popping up in places Max is known to frequent. If we're lucky, it won't take long till your paths cross."
