Deya's eyes slowly fluttered open, settling into narrow slits as the excruciating headache set in. She could feel her lungs burn as if every intake of oxygen was poisonous, the torment intensifying until it sent her into a coughing fit.

Nonetheless, it was as she attempted to cover her mouth that she realised her hands are bound together behind her back, her eyes instantly widening with panic.

Where am I?

Her mind was clouded, and no matter how hard she tried no memories popped up. Then again, they didn't have to.

"Welcome back" A gravely voice echoed from somewhere behind her, and she struggled against her bounds in a futile attempt to turn around.

"And where the bloody hell would that be?" Her voice came out hoarse and she gave her bounds another few tugs before giving up.

Her companion let out a low chuckle at the sigh, and soon the room filled with the sharp sound of his steps approaching.

"Aww, did you forget about all the good times we had?" He whispered mockingly as he finally stood in front of her. "You know, before you turned out to be a backstabbing bitch"

As she found herself face to face with the enraged celadon eyes, Deya felt her heartbeat accelerate and every single breath became increasingly difficult. This can't be...

"How.. How did I get here?" She blurted out in panic, too distracted to register the satisfied smirk on his face.

"Jessie" As soon as the name came out, fractions of the previous night's events flashed through her mind, making her head spin.

"I swear you're this guy's lucky charm or something" Connor followed with a bitter chuckle, hands casually tucked into the pockets of his suit pants. "Every time he finds himself on a thin ice, you just waltz in and save his ass. It's ridiculous"

The girl flashed him a spiteful glare as she struggled to regain control of her own body, and all she could think about was Patrick.

Did he managed to get out of there?

However, seeing where revealing her weakness to Connor landed her the last time, it was a question she didn't dare to ask out loud.

"Why am I here?" She spat with venom, eyes boring into the man with suspicion.

"You're here because you've crossed the wrong man" The tone of his voice turned cold in an instant, sending chills down her spine. Despite that, she managed to keep her poker face.

"Bullshit" She murmured under her breath, and Connor couldn't have cut the distance between them and reward her with a backhand slap any faster.

"We had a deal, but you decided to come running to Maximón as soon as an opportunity presented itself" He growled in fury, eyes ablaze, and despite the excruciating hammering inside her head, Deya raised her trembling chin in defiance.

"Should I remind you I planned on not seeing him for the rest of my life?" She hissed in defense, feeling her anxiety turning into anger. "You were the one who came up with the charade, you forced me to seduce him!"

Her voice grew in volume, and so did the pulsing vein on Connor's forehead.

"Don't play the victim and pretend you just followed my orders!" Connor's features hardened as he cut her off with another slap. "I'm sure the two of you had it well planned"

"You're paranoid" She could feel her bottom lip bleeding and quickly assessed the damage with the tip of her tongue.

"Am I?" The celadon eyes held a psychotic glint as they bore into her soul. "Then explain me why the Bulldogs equipped their mansion with radio frequency jammers all of a sudden?"
