Knock... Knock.. Knock
Deya rolled on her bed in exhaustion, the bitter aftertaste of absinth lingering in her mouth making her nauseous. There was no saying when did she finally fall asleep (or maybe unconscious?) but one look at the clock told her it was way too late to be getting up now.
"Deya?" Patrick's voice echoed as the door cracked open, and she hastily tucked the empty bottle under the pillow.
Just pray he didn't see.
"Huh?"
"Sorry, I just thought I'd check if you're up for the training" His eyes bore into her expectantly, and she internally cursed.
The temptation to just make an excuse was strong. Besides, if she looked half as bad as she felt, migraine would be easily believable. However, she also knew that he would insist on staying with her the whole day, and that was the last she needed right now.
"Sorry, I forgot" She murmured into the pillow while stretching her arms. "I'll meet you at the gym in twenty, ok?"
Patrick gave her an excited nod before disappearing behind the door.
Right as he did so, Deya rolled herself to the other side of the bed and opened the second stolen bottle.
No chance I can do this without a little fix.
. . .
"So?" Dylan inquired expectantly once he got in the van with Max.
"So what?" He growled in annoyance while turning the key in the ignition and signalling to the other two cars to follow.
"Don't play dumb" The blond rolled his eyes. "How did it go yesterday?"
It was clear he's hinting at his conversation with Deya, but it was even clearer that the devil doesn't want to talk about it.
But do I have a choice?
"It was Connor" His orbs were firmly fixed on the road, not revealing a single emotion. Nonetheless, the same couldn't be said about his friend.
"What?!" He shouted in disbelief, eyes nearly popping out of his head.
"He's the one who took her" The devil added in undertone, and the car noticeably accelerated. "Claimed he kidnapped her father and forced her to bait me"
"Shit" Dylan shook his head in disbelief. "That's sick and... not good"
Max shot him a short side glance as his lips turned into a frown. "I would fucking say so"
There was a minute of silence as the two of them contemplated the situation.
"Maybe we can use it to our advantage" The blond peeped in eventually with a pensive frown, and the car fell into another silence.
"I know where you going with that" Max replied coldly. "And the answer is no"
"Well, think about it" Dylan tried again only to be cut off.
"I don't have to think about it--"
"Come on! None of us wants to do this shit" Dylan exclaimed frustratedly while pointing to the van they were driving. "So why should we chase after Connor if we can use her to get him where we want?"
