the atmosphere inside the room was tense as the blonde woman sat in the large overstuffed chair at the end of the long table, she glared at everyone in the room as another excuse came out of a small and very nervous vampire. she slammed her palm against the dark wooden table, ignoring the pain that spread throughtout her hand as she glared at the boy. "i do not give a fuck what it takes, get your dead ass out there and find him." she looked around the room now, "please do me a favor and get the fuck out of my house."

hadley's voice was weak, and the bags under her eyes were prominent. the vampires weren't angry with her and no fangs were bared as she screamed at them for an hour, they understood what she was going through and took their time with her knowing that human feelings were more fragile than theirs. as soon as the last man walked through the door the girl collapsed into her chair and tears began to flow from her eyes, she slowly brought her legs up to her chest and took slow and deep breaths as she tried to calm herself down.

cris watched from the door, her own heart aching as she watched her sister tear herself apart over something that wasn't her fault. "he's going to be okay, he's the most powerful person i know." her words were slow as she walked into the large office as she watched the woman in front of her begin to crumble, she was being careful around her. "and you're the strongest."

a pitiful laugh came from hadley as her sister tried to encourage her, she uncurled her legs and stood from the chair while wiping the tears from her eyes. she was quick to change the subject, cris didn't understand much about how hadley was feeling and the woman didn't want to make her feel bad by talking about it. "i've been talking to a few friends and they've been trying to get in touch with a few of godric's associates, it hasn't been good so far but they were talking about some guy from louisiana."

"that's good right? that means that maybe we could find him a little faster?" cris had admitted to herself as soon as vampires were introduced into her life that she wasn't going to understand half of what happened, and when she found out her sister had fallen completely into that world she just tried to be there for her. she kept her distance though, she didn't trust godric as much after he had hadley quit her jobs so that he could take care of the two of them. hadley shrugged her shoulders and sat on the table, she played with the ends of her shorts and avoided eye contact with her younger sister who began to grow very annoyed with the woman. "i'm trying to understand hadley, but i can't if you won't help me. you keep pushing me away and it's not good for either one of us." cris looked desperately at her sister who's blue eyes began to water once more. "please hadley, just stop trying to act tough in front of me."

the woman nodded and pulled her sister into a tight hug, trying to pull the pieces of their bond back together. "i just don't want you worrying about me, i'm your big sister i'm supposed to be strong for you." they both pulled away from the hug and began to push in the chairs around the large table "remember when this was just a room with a few desks in it?" the two laughed at their pathetic 'work room' when they first moved into their apartment they used their boxes to build some cardboard desks but then godric bought them the table that was now in their so that cris could have a place for her and her friends to study and work on projects together.

"say what you want but those desks were the best things ever, and the box forts were even better." cris laughed as she pushed in the final chair and they left the room, hadley walked into the kitchen as cris sat at their small dinner table "do you think that maybe julia was turned into a vampire?" hadley visibly tensed and cris was quick to continue to ease the conversation she had been dying to have with her sister. "all the signs are there, i mean after she went missing a lot of her stuff did too. when we were moving things out of the house the van was broken into remember? like half of her clothes were just gone."

"cris."

"and like there was that incident on the news where they said a blonde woman attacked a guy at the gas station, they basically described her."

"cris!" hadley shouted, although she immediately regretted raising her voice at the girl. "i'm sorry, but you know what the detective said. don't lose faith but come to terms with even the toughest reality, julia's dead hun and we need to just accept that." she didn't ever want to say that because deep down hadley had thought about it too, maybe julia was alive and maybe she was a vampire but it didn't make sense to her. julia would've checked on them or come back to them, she wouldn't have just left them like that. "look i want to believe it too cris but i just don't think she would abandon us even if she was turned."

"maybe she didn't get a choice." cris got up from her seat and went into her room, slamming her door behind her which made hadley jump. hadley ran a hand over her face, shaking her head and wondering why she picked a fight with the most stubborn 19 year old she had ever met before. the woman
