eric's hand never left the girls arm until they reached the top of the staircase, he looked at her with eyes full of shock. "are you alright?" he asked quietly, checking her for any wounds before putting his hand on her shoulder.

hadley nodded and looked out the crack from the door, people rushed by with their pillows and blankets in hand. "i could have the two of you out of here in seconds."

sookie's jaw dropped, "eric there's kids out there."

"they wouldn't think twice about hurting us." he said in a low voice, watching from beside hadley as children ran by with their siblings or parents. sookie questioned about bill's whereabouts which made hadley roll her eyes, wiping the tears from her face. "his attachment to you is irrational. it clouds his judgement. he would kill every child in this church to save you."

sookie looked at him with a disgusted look, "and why aren't you?"

"i'm following godric's orders and getting the two of you out, that's all." eric looked behind him at the woman, tensing slightly as he felt hadley's hand grab onto his arm in fear.

"he's your maker isn't he?"

"don't use words you don't understand."

"you have a lot of love for him."

eric looked back towards hadley, who kept her tear filled eyes on the ground, and then the hallway, "don't use words i don't understand."

they watched as the guards ushered the last of the lock in guests out of the large double doors, telling them to be quiet and careful before locking the doors and double checking the door. eric hunched his shoulders up to look less intimidating and walked over to the men, hadley grabbed his arm and shook her head but he just nodded and kept walking.

hey y'all, how's it going?" he asked in a fake southern accent, gaining their attention as he walked up to them. he had a friendly smile on his face, "steve sent me over to man the exit here. think i can take it from here."

sookie tangled her fingers with hadley's as they watched eric talk to the guards, "what's he doing" sookie asked, her voice barely audible.

hadley watched as eric glamored one of the guards to hand over his stake, her eyes stayed on the man in cargo shorts that circled the large blonde man. as he pulled his arm back hadley screamed out, "eric!"

the man dodged the stake and threw the men into the walls and onto the floors, he had placed the stake against one of their necks. his breathing was shaking from anger, hadley rushed over and put a hand on his arm. she took the stake from him and dropped it to the ground, the guard that looked no older than seventeen slid down against the wall.

eric opened the door for them to walk out but they were only met with the fellowships army approaching them with wooden arrows and more stakes.  "eric, through the sanctuary." sookie said before leading the way to the sanctuary that was littered with pillows and blankets, she grabbed hadley's hand and pulled her along.

as they went further into the room eric asked where the exit was only to be answered by the all too familiar voice of steve newlin, "there are several exits, actually. for you, the easiest one takes you staight to hell."

the doors opened and the fellowships army barged through, weaponry of silver and wood in their hands. they quickly surrounded the three, eric pulled hadley behind him. "let us leave!" sookie shouted at steve, "save yourselves. no one has to die."

"the war has begun, you evil whores of satan. you vampires cast the first stone by killing my family. the lines have been drawn. you're either with us or against us. we are prepa-"

"i'm usually against dicks that wear terrible ties." hadley said, it was meant for only her to hear it but her voice echoed around the room. steve glared at her, "godric got away, he'll get help."

"i'm not concerned with godric. any vampire will do for our grand celebration, and we got one right here." hadley and sookie looked to eric who slowly turned to them, he gently squeezed hadley's arm before walking forward. "brothers and sisters, there will be a holy bonfire at dawn."
