hadley lay on the concrete floor of the basement, she had woken up hours ago but stayed in that place. she listened without speaking as hugo and sookie shook the fence and yelled for help, her head was pounding with each word said.

she wanted to scream at them to shut up but she didn't, she just stayed and thought about how scared cris must be right now. how her younger sister must've waited up all night for her to come back, for her to walk through their front door with her usual tired eyes, ready to spill everything that had happened at work. she probably fell asleep late, her phone in her hand after calling every vampire she had in her contacts, and waking up alone.

hadley sat up from her spot on the ground and leaned up against the chain link fence, her head lazily bobbed to the side as she stared at sookie. "so the newlins knew who we were the minute we walked in. same way they knew to come after me at the airport. cause someone at that nest is a traitor."

hadley laughed sarcastically, "i'm going to act like you didn't just say that."

"what it could be true." sookie turned to her.

"yeah, and godric is going to take me to watch the sun rise as soon as we find him. those vampires are pricks sometimes but they wouldn't betray him, they love him too much, even stan." hugo looked at her with an irritated expression whereas sookie only stared sympathetically, she couldn't imagine how she must be feeling. to be so close yet so far from her love.

hugo rubbed his legs nervously, "well you've met stan. he would rip our throats out for looking at him sideways."

"i've told him to take a silver dildo and shove it-"

"we get it!" sookie shouted, her face turning red as the woman spoke. she laughed loudly causing hadley to as well.

hugo only shook his head, "point is, he's dangerous." sookie now shook her head before walking towards the fence.

"bill had to have sensed my fear. he's gonna come storming through this church any second."

hadley shook her head at the woman's worried tone, "i don't know bill but from what eric has told me, he's not that stupid. bill knows the church will be stocked up with weaponry."

sookie stayed quiet, knowing deep down that the woman was telling the truth. she watched hadley lean her head against the fence with her eyes closed, dirt was smudged on her cheek and her lips were chapped and cut up like she had been chewing on the skin. she was a mess, yet made it look like heaven.

"why the fuck didn't anyone tell me you could read minds?" hadley asked, her eyes still shut as she spoke to the woman. sookie only let out a quiet, forced laugh. "i'm serious, i've been wondering why they sent in a regular human. no offense hugo."

"none taken," the man fake a smile before murmuring "bitch."

hadley smiled when she heard him, holding up her middle finger before putting her hands in her lap and trying to get comfortable enough to take a nap.
